Default Snooker - Irish Masters (starts 20/3)

Betting on snooker has been pretty profitable for me recently so thought I'd get a topic going on this event. I know anything can happen in the first round so I'm just looking for a couple of 'safe' bets to add to an accumulator, any advice would be appreciated. I'm thinking Hunter (1/5), Ronnie (2/9), Hendry? I know there's little value in these picks but they will beef up an accy nicely. Cheers.

I'm going with 2 small accumilators with Gamebookers.

Bet 1
Higgins J. v Drago T. @ 1.31
Hunter P. v Walker L. @ 1.22
Williams M. v Burnett J. @ 1.18
O' Sullivan R. v Holt M. @ 1.22
Odds of 2.30

Bet 2
Higgins J. v Drago T. @ 1.31
Hunter P. v Walker L. @ 1.22
Williams M. v Burnett J. @ 1.18
O' Sullivan R. v Holt M. @ 1.22
McManus A. v Fu M. @ 1.73
Hendry S. v King M. @ 1.22
Odds of 4.86

Good Luck!

Be careful of taking Ronnie, Michael Holt is a fast improving player and well capable of beating him.

Other than that, I couldn't go against your picks.

I know Ronnie can be a bit unpredictable, but it's either him or Hendry that go into the second bet as "extras", and I'm not 100% convinced of Hendry.

Hopefully Ronnie will be on form, because he's one of those people that can beat most players with ease (or lose with ease:o ). Really depends on which Ronnie turns up.

I used to watch a lot of snooker when I was in Ireland, but since I moved to Norway I don't get to see it on TV, so I base a lot of my picks on what my knowledge used to be, so the tip on Holt is appreciated.

I remember the first time I saw Hendry I tipped him for great things, and I thought the same thing when I first saw Marco Fu a few years ago, but that doesn't seem to have happened....yet.

They should start covering it on Monday, it seems. Unfortunately, they'll offer afternoon sessions, at least at the very beginning.

UPDATE

Bet 1
Higgins J. v Drago T. @ 1.31 5-1
Hunter P. v Walker L. @ 1.22 5-0
Williams M. v Burnett J. @ 1.18 5-1
O' Sullivan R. v Holt M. @ 1.22 5-2
Odds of 2.30

Bet 2
Higgins J. v Drago T. @ 1.31 5-1
Hunter P. v Walker L. @ 1.22 5-0
Williams M. v Burnett J. @ 1.18 5-1
O' Sullivan R. v Holt M. @ 1.22 5-2
McManus A. v Fu M. @ 1.73 1-5
Hendry S. v King M. @ 1.22 4-5
Odds of 4.86

A small profit made, but it could've been so much better if Hendry had won the deciding frame of his match.

^^^

Made me a bit wary of backing Ronnie although he does say he does a professional job instead of bashing the balls about.

Any experts want to comment on whether they see Ronnie being upset?

I'm still happy with having Ronnie in my bet (especially after him beating Holt 5-2 yesterday). Besides, I'm sure he feels a lot better after getting all those worries off his chest . Anyway, I don't rate Brian Morgan as much opposition, even against a troubled Ronnie (hopefully I haven't jinxed myself ).

To be honest, Paul Ross2 is the snooker expert, but I'll try to help you.

Normally I would've picked A.Hamilton as the value bet, but he's playing Mark Williams, and it doesn't get any tougher than that.
I guess they all have a chance, but I'd probably pick Nigel Bond.
However, it's been a while since I regularly watched snooker, so you would probsably be safer ignoring me .

Default Snooker - Irish Masters (starts 20/3)

Sorry guys, missed this, March is a reallly busy month for me, hence lack of posts recently.

The snooker form is completely up in the air at the moment and historically I do not like this tournament, although Ronnie always seems to play well here.

I'm just taking a back seat for a bit while things settle down.
