Default Rugby Union - Guiness Premiership 08/09

Really, really looking forward to the season. Optimistic Worcester can have a good season. We were on fire the second half of last season and with a few additions including the mighty Chris Latham I think we can go well, but we always seem to start the season poorly!

Anyway, I had a few bets last season with mixed success, but am going to spend a bit more time on the betting this season, so thought I would start a thread.

Already got a few things lined up for the weekend. Anyone else gonna join in?

Hi TheRat

Hope things go well for Worcester this season. I'll certainly be cheering them on particularly as they have Ruddock at their helm (except when betting against them ).

For match betting, I'll be sticking to my Rugby Quarb system (check out the Systems & Strategy forum for details). Looks like no Guinness Premiership qualifiers this weekend so no bets.

For outright betting, I've had a speculative punt on Saracens to win the Guinness Premiership during the regular season (got £40 @ 14/1 with William Hills a few days ago). I've also had a speculative bet on the Scarlets to win the Magners League (got £25 @ 16/1 with 888Sport).

Anyhow, good luck for your weekend bets and lets hope Worcester start with a win over the Saints.

W

They say don't bet on your own team but i cannot understand the price

Northampton V Worcester Worcester 2.5 (Sportingbet) 10pts

Worcester travel to newly promoted Northampton in the first game on Sky this season. Northampton won every game last seaosn in the league and will be confident going into the game at home. Worcester on the other hand, after getting off to a poor start last season we arguably the form side in the back end of the season beating all the top teams, and Mike Ruddock finally seemed to get it together. worcester were unbeaten in pre-season and hopefully the momentum will still be there.
both teams have strengthened their sides with Northampton making 12 signings. worcester have also added, notably legendary full back Chris Latham. Northampton will give debuts to six players and despite them doing well in pre-season too, it may take them time to gel.
The teams have met six times in the guiness prem with Worcester winning four of those, last time away in 2007. The combination of Latham, Benjamin and Gear is a strong one but the real battle will be in the forwards. both have strong packs and will try and dominate, and even I would not like to second guess who will come out on top.
Worcester without captain pat sanderson but Rawlinson steps up and Horstmann replaces him in the back row.

Anyway! I really think this is good value

Good luck with this bet

I fancy Saracens to win today against Harlequins and also like the look of the Blues to beat Leinster in the Magners League. I think both sides will cover their respective handicaps of -3 & -1 @ 1.91 (available in several places). To put my money where my mouth is, I'll bet:

£5 on Saracens (-3) @ 1.91 with BetDirect
£5 on Blues (-1) @ 1.91 with BetDirect
£5 win double on the above

Saracens lost and Cardiff Blues drew so all my handicap bets went down the pan

Terrible indiscipline

Score a try to get back into it then concede a penalty right after kick off

So frustrating

Worcester's discipline really let them and me down! Silly yellow card gave Saints 10 points and they were never gona pull that back. If they continue to give away silly penalties infront of the posts they will struggle this season.

Im having a little flutter on Gloucester, fancy them to cover the handicap. The shed will be roaring! Shame no Olly Barkley but he is out injured. Toby Flood makes his debut for Leicester. No real reason behind it
