OOOH!! Hamilton and Kovalainen docked five places each and they'll start eighth and ninth on the grid respectively!

Makes a very interesting grid, but doesn't exactly help any of my bets

KUBICA to finish on the podium @ 5.00 Totesport. Starting a rock solid 4th after the McLarens demotion. Said after qualifying that he sacrificed quali pace for a race set up. Was very unlucky in Australia and can make amends here. Would favour him over Heidfeld especially as he's started ahead. Not sure about the McLarens tearing through the top 10, there pace in quali was average and especially Hamilton didn't look hooked up. If it rains, he's a driver I'd fancy and should be very close to hitting the podium.

LAY RAIKKONEN @ 2.30 Betfair. My last bet for the race, and this seems plenty short enough to lay. Massa took pole with quite a margin, so people are assuming Massa must be a lot lighter than Kimi. But I'm not sure about this, I think Kimi really made a mess of Q3 and they'll only be 1 or 2 laps apart. At the start, Kimi is on the dirty side of the track and Massa should be able to keep his lead. I think Kimi should be more worried about the (probably light) Toyota of Trulli and the very fast BMWs. If he slips up and ends up behind any of them, then Massa should be able to pull out a gap quickly which will give him a big edge. If it's dry, then Massa is very good at lights-to-flag wins, and this will be a great chance for him to put in another on a track he seems to excel at. If it's wet, then this is an extremely short price in the first wet race without TC and engine braking. Also, Ferrari have had a lot of reliability problems, so it all adds up to this being a very short price. Personally, I'd go Massa 2.75 and Kimi 3.2 with all the randomness around this race.

Very happy with my portfolio of bets for this race, just need a little bit of luck

Event Malaysian GP
Selection F Alonso Points Finish
Strength 10/10
Date 22/03/2008
Bookmaker/Price Betfair @ 1.70 (Back)
Reasoning For this bet to be successful, Alonso needs to finish in the Top 8. Assumming both Ferrari's and McLarens get points finishes, Alonso needs to occupy 1 of the other 4 positions. He has 2 Saubers, 1 Red Bull and a Toyota in front of him in the grid. He had a great performance last week and showed he was capable of beating these other drivers and he will be desperate to porve he is capable of finishing in the points consistently.

Event Malaysian GP
Selection F Alonso (w/o Big 4) (Each-Way)
Strength 5/10
Date 22/03/2008
Bookmaker/Price Stan James @ 7.50 (Back)
Reasoning If you take out the Big 4, Alonso would currently be lying 5th, and there are 3 places needed for this bet. This means he has to pass just 2 of the others to make a profit. He showed great pace last week and probably deserved a podium finish. He was up there with the Big 4 and showed he had the beating of the Saubers/Red Bulls etc. For that reason, I feel he is a great bet here to finish Top 3 w/o the Big 4

Event F1 Malaysian GP
Selection F Massa 1st Lap Leader
Strength 10/10
Date 22/03/2008
Bookmaker/Price Betfair @ 1.24 (Back)
Reasoning A ridiculous short price for this one, but I think Massa has to be a certainty here. He starts off on the best part of the track and I dont think Raikkonen will want to jeopardise his teams chances by seriously challenging Massa in the 1st turn. After that, I expect Massa to hold on until at least after the 1st lap.

Reasoning Another seriously short price, but considering they occupy the 1st 2 places on the grid, it looks a foregone conclusion that 1 of them win. Hamilton and Kovalainen are well back in the grid and I expect the 2 to pull clear early on. After that, I cant see anyone catching them.

Reasoning With a lot of rain possible, and some reliability issues I think this looks a good bet. Very few finished last year and I expect a lot of problems.

18 finished last year??

Looks like we've all been mugged with this rain - bloody weather, thought England was bad

Kimi takes the lead at the first stop despite only having 1 lap more of fuel - this is not looking great

My guys for points are 10th, 11th, 12th so need some retirements higher up (but not Kubica or Alonso)

No rain, no attrition, no nothing. Kubica on the podium the only return. Around level for the weekend

No bets for me but a personally pleasing result. Big fan of all 3 guys that finished on the podium. Kind of gutted Kovi has moved to McLaren as was planning on backing him during this season but obviously the prices aren't as good anymore.
