The Winmau World Masters is now down to the last 16 and the draw can be seen here http://home.broadpark.no/~rboy/Winmau2007MS.html. The action is all live on BBC. A few bookies still have prices up and I like the look of the Dazzler's price. 2pts ew D.Fitton to win World Masters 10/1 Ladbrokes Darryl Fitton is a very good darts player as he showed at the International Darts League where he made the quarter finals and he could be the one to benefit from the absence of most of the BDO's top stars this weekend. Admittedly he hasn't got the easiest of draws but he scores so heavily that he should really beat Jarkko Komula in the last 16 and then would face a hit and miss Gary Robson or the Wizard of Oz Simon Whitlock. Both are heavy scorers but Fitton is probably just the more consistant and he's having a better year so I'd fancy him there. Fitton's made the semis at Lakeside so he's no stranger in the big events and 10/1 is a big price for a player of his standards despite the tough draw.

Absolute joke the way this tournament is now done with the seeds and nevermind the fact that many of the top BDO players are not even here. Anyway in the top half: Atkins @ 16/1 e.w. I remember when he played Adams in the world a couple of years ago and lost narrowly but put up a top performance and looked a sure fire major winner. That has not quite happened despite good floor performances but he might just have a golden chance here. Montgomerry in the last 16, Hankey who these days is just so in and out or Max and possibly Adams or Stompe. That is not a really bad draw. Whitlock @ 5/1 e.w Whitlock has actually earned his way into this tournament with a host of wins. He does have a harder draw in Robson, potentially Fitton and maybe O'Shea but he is a class act who would not look out of place in the PDC. He scores very well and all over the board and just has the ability and the opportunity to come through this to the final at least. Will he take it?

OOOH!! Very nice prices in Atkins and Fitton. So far the results have seemingly gone with the averages but what will a day's worth of disruption do? I'd favour Fitton (8/13) edging Walton (6/5) and Thornton (6/5) edging out Atkins (8/13) purely on the averages but I suppose at those prices it's woth a gamble to just bet on who'll win outright instead. Outright prices : Darryl Fitton 2/1 (Coral), Martin Atkins 3/1 (Ladbrokes), John Walton 7/2 (Bet265/Stan James) and Robert Thornton 9/2 (Bet365/Stan James).

Thought when he went 5-4 up that Fitton had that but the Scot came back well and deserved it. To be fair to Thornton he played darts which wouldn't have been out of place in Wolverhampton this weekend.
