I wanted to back Owais Shah as England's top runscorer here but I've not got the each way terms I'd like or the price to go with it so I'll take Shah in this market instead. Owais Shah has top scored in the last two ODI's England have played here and it's a ground he obviously likes. He played brilliantly against India here last summer and his knock against New Zealand in June ensured England had some sort of total to try and defend. The extra pace and bounce is right up his street as he can use his unorthodox flicks and sweeps and with short boundaries and a lightning fast outfield, 25 runs should come from Shah's bat fairly quickly.

.
unlucky mate, shah came 2runs off for you. but he plenty of balls in 37 to be able to acheive the target.

i've been following your predictions for a while and notice how spot on you are majority of the time. i just got feeling you so unlucky in this serious so far. especially if england go and win today!

i personally backed us today and when we get 3-0 will then back s.africa in remaining two.

i hope my england comes in but you nail your african run scorer

England WIN @ 1.83
wish i'd waited till this morning, England were 1.87

SA really haven't got anything left in the tank, physically and mentally.

The youngsters lack experience aswell.

goodnight, the pub awaits.

Wolves, I would not recommend a back of South Africa. KP and chums will be going all out for the 5-0 that takes England from 6 to 2 in the ODI standings.

Jaques and his motley crew have their eyes firmly fixed on the SAA flight at the end of next week.

This is a strong England team. It looks like 13 on paper and you see only 11 names.

KP must be more flexible in batting line up; not have them walking in as it's down on team sheet.

eg... as the two openers passed 70 it should have been said Luke Wright goes in next if Prior goes first. If Bell falls Shah goes in and Prior is given licence.

There were power play overs left at fall of first and nothing was done to make Kallis think about them. Bell, Shah together became a bit bogged down.

330 should have been the target at the Oval after the solid start. England did not panic the oppo.

10 points Albie Morkel top SA bat @ 13.00
10 points Amla top SA bat @ 5.5

The rest have given up.

I've been a bit unlucky in this series but find myself -32.50 for the series. I'm going with 3 tomorrow. No huge writeups. Doing bets now as I'm not about in the morning.

10pts England -2.5wickets/17.5runs 4/5 Sportingbet

England have been completely dominant since leaving Edgbaston. I took them on in the last match based on their record at The Oval rather than SA's form but I'll be firmly on England from here on in. South Africa are ready for the plane. They have been since they sealed the test series. Their bowling attack looks the cannon fodder it was at Lords and their batting has been blitzed. They've barely scored 250 runs in the last 2 matches. England are flying and I'll happily go for a 4th comfortable win here.

10pts England +2.5 runs Highest Opening Partnership 5/6 Ladbrokes

England have won this bet in every match of the series so far so they shouldn't even be 5/6 without the handicap let alone with a 2.5 run start. Ian Bell and Matt Prior have been excellent at the top of the innings while Gibbs and Smith, now Amla haven't looked great. England have been ahead when the 1st wicket has fallen on all 3 occasions so far so I'll take the 5/6 they are within 2 runs when the 1st wickets go here.

3pts ew M.Boucher Top SA Batsman 10/1 Coral (1/5 1,2,3)

Mark Boucher has been placed in the last two innings for South Africa without doing anything special. He's pretty experienced and might be playing at Lords for the last time in his career so I'm sure he'll want to put in a decent performance. As a batsman who can play a longer innings which has been the requisite for SA in the series so far due to them being skittled, or someone who can up the rate Boucher looks a solid call for an ew bet in this young SA lineup.

keep backing teams that keep winning, will be going in again on England at Sophia, alot more to play for than SA, A win will elevate England to 2nd in the World rankings, something Moores and KP will be keen to happen, i would say SA have got pride to play for but they haven't even shown signs of that here, the plane beckons.

Hmmm. Another match where I didn't catch the luck on Sunday. Just as Boucher was about to place, the rain ended the innings . -16 for that match with the handicap being voided and -48.50 for the series now . Going to go with 2 tomorrow. I agree South Africa look a spent force and are ready for the plane but there's no chance of us getting a 50 over match tomorrow. In fact I'd be surprised if we see more than 20 overs each. With that in mind SA have a chance of giving it a bit of a slap and giggle approach so I'll take them at the odds.

10pts South Africa to win 5th ODI 6/4 Skybet

South Africa haven't played any good cricket at all in this series but with the weather in Wales over the last couple of days and the forecast for this game there's no chance of a 50 over match. I think we're looking at a 20-25 over match maximum and that could release the shackles and entice South Africa to show a bit of mettle. England have gone serenely through this series and if this was to be a 50 over match I'd be all over them but it's more of a lottery over 20 overs and at 6/4 I'll go with SA.

5pts ew A.Flintoff Top England Batsman 13/2 Boylesports (1/4 1,2,3)

I've no idea what series Boylesports have been watching. Flintoff has been in superb form and showed his twenty20 potential in our run chase at Lords. Fair do's to them, they've probably seen the forecast but with all the rain around and the match being under lights the ball will be hooping around so wickets will fall so I've no worries with Flintoff batting at 5. It's effectively 13/8 he places here which I'll take. Flintoff has easily been the man of the series. He's comfortably England's highest run scorer in the series and he's starting to dominate this SA attack like he dominated Australia's in 2005 and at 13/2 Freddy looks a very good ew bet.

as kev mentioned it will most likely be a shorter match with the weather concerns.

i will be keeping an eye on the weather but if they start almost straight away (so one side have 50overs) although prob be shortenerd i will back the 2nd batting side

if that makes any sense

if it rains early and delayed start i shall probably just no bet, and sit back and enjoy

As I suspected, rain came and it turned out no play was possible. You have to question the idea of giving a game to the west in September. They should either have had the first game of a NZ game earlier in the summer.

Shah was nowhere which means I end the series -58.50. A very expensive but also pretty unlucky series. Roll on Stanford .
