Default Cricket: Bangladesh vs India ODI Series

Bangladesh host India in an intriguing looking 3 match 1 day series. India's defeat to Bangladesh at the World Cup has given this series extra billing. All the action is live on Sky with the 1st ODI which begins tomorrow at 4.30 BST live on SS3.

Series odds.

Bangladesh76.555.566
India1.081.081.141.121.11.1

No outright bets for me but there are 3 bets for tomorrow's match.

10pts Bangladesh +4.5wickets/60.5runs 5/6 Sporting Odds

Bangladesh host India in Dhaka full of confidence after announcing themselves to the World Cup by beating India in Trinidad. For India revenge will be the order of the day but Bangladesh will be out to show that win was no fluke. You could say they've already done that having beaten South Africa in the Super 8's.

Bangladesh have an injury doubt around Masrafe Mortaza and will leave it until the last possible minute before naming their side. Javer Omar is expected to open the innings alongside Tamim Iqbal with Shahriar Nafees not getting a gig. We saw at the World Cup the effect that Bangladesh's 3 prong spin attack can have and on a pitch that already looks dry they are sure to have an even bigger effect here.

India arrive in Bangladesh with an interim coach - Ravi Shastri who stands in while a replacement for Greg Chappell is found. In fact his replacement could be coaching the opponents as Dav Whatmore leaves his role as Bangladesh coach after this series and is tipped to succeed the Australian. India turn up with a young squad. There's no Ganguly, Tendulkar, Agarkar, Harbhakan or Kumble for various reasons. Manoj Tiwary, whose debut was eagerly anticipated is India's only injury problem and he'll definitely miss this match as India look to get back to winning ways.

The pitch loks like being a low, slow turning wicket which will suit Bangladesh down to the ground. Bangladesh are capable of winning as they've shown recently but India will be all out to win, I don't think it will matter about being convincing for India as long as they win and I think they will win but Bangladesh will remain within this large handicap.

10pts M.Rafique's Performance Pts 34&Over 5/6 Bet365

Points are scored as follows: 1pt per run, 10pts per catch & 20pts per wicket.

Mohammad Rafique is an experienced campaigner and enjoys playing against India it seems. He's got 15 wickets against them from his 12 ODI's against them including 3/35 in the famous World Cup match in Trinidad. With this pitch likely to spin he's sure to be in with a chance of covering this with the ball but he can bat and is a decent lower order batsman and if any points are needed with the willow it's very much possible he'll get them. This isn't a big target really and I think he'll cover it.

1pt ew M.Mortaza Top Bangladesh Bat 25/1 Boylesports (1/4 1,2,3)

Masrafe Mortaza is an injury doubt in this match but if he does play he's well worth covering with a small stake to be the top Bangladesh batsman. He can hit a very big cricket ball and is very much able to come in and up the run rate down the order. In order for him to top score it's likely the Bangladesh top order will need to fold but at 25/1 even if he just makes the top 3 then it'll be worth it. This guy can bat so he's overpriced at 25s.

This is looking like an excellent call All you need is a couple of wickets ( or a c & b ) from Rafique, and it'll be even better

Once again, terrible luck kev, 144-5 and they knock off the next 100. Good to see Bangladesh staying competitive though.

Game 2 of this series is in a few hours time but forecasts say there's a 90% chance of rain so I'm not interested in picking bets that will be voided and looking through rules for running bets and all that stuff. Game 3 is on Tuesday though in Chittagong so hopefully we'll get a game there.

3rd game is in the morning and is meant to be rain affected but so was the 2nd one and that was nearly a full match. Ironically all bets in the 1st ODI would have won in the 2nd ODI .

I'll have 3 for the 3rd ODI.

10pts M.Rahim's Performance Pts 28&Over 4/5 Bet365

Points are scored as follows: 1pt per run, 10pts per catch & 25pts per stumping.

Mushfiqur Rahim has already shown before he's comfortable against this Indian bowling attack. He hit a 50 in the world cup match between the two sides and followed that up with 35 in Saturday's match. He also took a catch and a stumping in that match taking his final tally to 70pts. No Ashraful today means he might come up the order one giving him the chance to score these with the bat but his glove work is handy to the spinners and that should assist the total so I think this is a safe over.

5pts Bangladesh Most Sixes 6/4 Blue Square

Bangladesh are overpriced here given the results of the series so far. In the 2 ODI's that have been played Bangladesh have won 3-0 and 10-3 in sixes hit. That gives them a decent chance of outsixing India again. If Bangladesh bat 1st and make a low score then India may well ease to their total but Bangladesh have batted 1st and 2nd in this series and won the six hitting both times so at the price with the stats on our side I'll take them again.

1pt ew M.Mortaza Top Bangladesh Bat 16/1 Boylesports (1/4 1,2,3)

Masrafe Mortaza is a very clean hitting batsman who is well worth backing with small stakes. In the last match he was 1 run away from top scoring hitting 42 in 22 balls which included 5 6's. When things go his way he can be impossible to bowl to as his 97.11 strike rate would suggest. This Bangladeshi lineup has been known to fold like a deck of cards which brings Mortaza right into the game but at these odds even a place provides nice profit.
