Default Who'd you back?

Ascot 1m
Good

1 Bahri 3 9-0 J Dunlop, W Carson
2 Barathea 3 9-0 L Cumani, M Roberts
3 Giants Causeway 3 9-0 A O'Brien, G Duffield
4 Henrythenavigator 3 9-0 A O'Brien, J Murtagh
5 Kings Best 3 9-0 M Stoute, K Fallon
6 Mark Of Esteem 3 9-0 S bin Suroor, L Dettori
7 Rock Of Gibraltar 3 9-0 A O'Brien, M Kinane
8 Sharmardal 3 9-0 Sin bin Suroor, K McEvoy

I know we'd need a time machine but who would you back?

Or how would you bet?

Giants Causeway or Rock Of Gibraltar...

Probably just The Rock!

If we are being offered the same price on all runners, say 6/1.
Then definately.

Mark Of Esteem

I'd have to agree Jack.

I'd price up in this order anyway;

Rock Of Gibraltar
Giants Causeway
Mark Of Esteem
Kings Best
Shamardal
Barathea
Henrythenavigator
Bahri

Kings Best is a tricky one, as although I not saying for sure he is the 4th best horse on the race I wouldn't price him up big as on his day he'd be capable of beating even that line up.

Shamardal was a real class act aswell but ive never been a fan of Godolphin and much preferred the horse with Mark Johnston.

The Rock was just pure poetry though. I'll never forget that Breeders Cup run when he flew home like a train but just failed.... think he was going for 7 straight Group 1's if I remember correctly. The turn of foot was sensational but good old Kinane gave him far too much to do...

Yes I think that, and the ride on Yesterday (which was much worse), cost him his job.

Shamardal could get a soft lead if Bahri does not take him on.

Backed Shamardal for the 2000 at 33/1 after it's maiden win. So I agree with you shame Johnston did not keep it.

The Rock was in a poor year.

Hawk Wing was a better miler, had him at 7/1 ante-post too. Rock only won because he raced on the favoured side. Who did Rock Of Gibraltar beat in his other races that is truly top class?

He did have a massive engine (backside) and had a terrific turn of foot. Was at Goodwood for his Sussex, directly opposite the spot where Kinane pressed the button. Electrifying.

Kings Best might boil over.

Hawk Wing was unlucky on Guineas day but I think ROG improved significantly after that.

Ok, the opposition after may not have been the level of other years but he won with great ease on every occasion.

I've never seen a more consistent horse or a horse winning so many Group 1's without a hard ride.

I couldn't agree more Billy. ROG might have been lucky in the Guineas but its clearly obvious the horse improved so much throughout that year and in the end I think he proved he was the better horse than Hawk Wing.... easily imo aswell.

Granted, but I still wouldn't be laying big odds.

Great decision to run him on the dirt in Nad Al Sheba in the March.

Bunch of clowns.

Yep...

Believe it or not I actually never back their horses or anything Dettori rides for that matter. At a HUGE push I will occassionaly but if its for a good bit of cash I avoid the boys in blue and their overrated celebrity status jock like the plague.
