Howdy all,

Hope this email finds everyone well.

Does anyone know of a site where I could download the form of a horse that ran in a race in the past?

It seems that a form is only available for "todays" race - it's not included in the archive of previous results from the Racing Post or Sporting Life.

Many thanks!

Cheers,

Garry

I might be missing something here.........

But.......if you go the horses lifetime form on either the Life or Post site.....and you're interested in it's form before, say, the 2007 Gold Cup........well, you just look at it's races prior to that race and that's it's form before that race.........

Is it not that simple ?...........

On the RP site I entered Red rum and Shergar as examples and they show up, but no form is available or stats

What I'd like to see is the Form column - see below.

Sure, we can see it today. But I want to look back and see the form as well as the result for this race tomorrow\next week.

Does it exist somewhere?

Cheers,

Garry

It exists on RP site by looking at previous form but won't be displayed as a formline. It will be a list of results that you can go into and you can see the form by looking at past results:

——22Mar08Wol9StCl5Hc,2K8-71/93˝L, Merrymadcap[5/2F] 9-3 bTom Eaves63 64 78
——06Mar08Wol9StCl6Hc,1K8-132/10˝L, Rebellious Spirit[15/8F] 9-10 bPhillip Makin60 61 69
——23Feb08Wol9StCl6Hc,2K8-121/82L, Mighty Mover[6/1] 9-2 bPhillip Makin54 65 66
FULLFIN01Feb08Kem8StCl6Hc,2K9-04/73L, Katiypour[9/4F] 9-0 Phillip Makin55 43 57
——26Nov07Lin10StCl6Hc,2K8-135/141žL, Stark Contrast[13/2] 9-2 Oscar Urbina55 33 60
——06Nov07Lin8StCl5ApHc,3K8-85/81˝L, Satin Braid[3/1] 8-13 M C Geran57 56 60
——15Oct07Lin8StCl6ApHc,3K9-14/103L, Seneschal[10/1] 9-1 Ashley Morgan58 30 56
FULLFIN15Sep07Kem11StCl6Cl,2K9-98/118˝L, Atlantic Gamble[16/1] 9-4 Oscar Urbina63 45 53

In this case formline would be 1-2-1-4-5-5-4-8

The one thing missing from RP is how other horses have done from a specific race. They have racecheck in the RP paper but not on the site as far as I know.

What Garry wants seems to be Racecards from previous days racing........

I don't know of anywhere on the internet where these are 'stored'.......but I'll have a search round............

The nearest I can find is at Adrian Masseys 'Previous Ratings' section..........

http://www.adrianmassey.com/rat/index.php

This is how they appear .......in descending order of his ratings ( the POS figure is the race result ).........but it shows form, odds, weight, Age, days since last run and the ratings........

Howdy all,

Sorry if this too technical but I thought I might as well ask here than anywhere else ...

I'm trying to automate a download from the Racing Post website - specifically, a days' race cards.

i.e.

Restricted Access

I've done some coding in a programming language - python - but it never gets past the, "Restricted Access" page. So, I don't think my code is correct.

Are there any python experts here, with previous experience of scraping the Racing Post website?

Cheers,

Garry

Hi,

Hope this finds everyone well and that you had nice weekend.

I've seen quite a few entries for the sex of a horse = h.

Does anyone know what that means?

This is specifically from the Racing Post:

i.e.

DIAMOND HOMBRE (USA) 6-y-o (24 Feb 2002) gr h

racing horse form - www.racingpost.co.uk

Many thanks!

Cheers,

Garry

Hi garry

'H' just stands for 'Horse'

Colts and Fillies become Horses and Mares from age 5 ( I think it's 5.....)

Howdy all!

Hope this message finds every well - roll on the weekend!

Quick question regarding a Horse's form ( from Adrian Massey's brilliant site):

( NB: If the above image doesn't come through, I'll repost.)

2006-04-04, Money Hills's form was 087490-. The previous race, when he came 13th, was in 2005 so "0" ( >9th) and "-" are added to the form. Fine.

His first race in 2007 was 324 days later, and the 8th Position from the 2006-04-04 race is added to the form, but with a "/" instead of a "-". So, the form that day is, "087490-8/"

My question is why a "/" and not a "-"? 324 days is not greater than or equal to 12 months, which is what I thought "/" meant.

Many thanks!

Cheers,

Garry
