Looking ahead, when the ebor betting comes out, I will be having a nice bet on Speed Gifted from Cumani's stable. Ran well at Ascot to finish 4th yesterday & perhaps will now be kept in the Group race sphere however if its entered up at York, it will take some beating in a race that Cumani often targets.

Been touted for a long time that the Ebor has been mooted for this one, of course won over 14f last year at York in the Melrose as well. Problem could be its rating may be a bit too high now but we will see.

Can somebody answer this question please

When a horse wins a handicap, when does his weight go up?

Is it on his next run?

And then, if there's a big race and the horse is in the ante-post book, does his weight go up if he wins beforehand.

I fancy a beast for the John Smiths Magnet Cup on 12th July.

He fell out of the stalls last time out and was never in the race. I wondered if he was ' held back' in case he ran close and picked up a penalty.

I think it goes up within 14 days but not 100% sure as so many run under a penalty before they can be reassessed. As for ante post I'm not sure how it affects those races, I think BTP or Billyhills will know though.

Penalties
There are occasions when a horse will win a race after the weights for a future race the horse is entered to run in, have been allotted. In these cases a horse will be given a penalty for the up-coming race to take into account the improvement in the horse’s performance, which is not yet officially recognised due to the ratings only being updated weekly.

Not necessarily it's next run. If the horse is ENTERED before it he re-assessed then it will run with a 6lb penalty - the equivilent of going up 6lb in the handicap obviously.

The same goes for big handicaps, the horse will run with a penalty but not off it's future mark - like Bankable in the Hunt Cup.

Who are you think about Cass? Heaven Knows? Kay Gee Bee?

No mate, Charlie Tokyo.

He won it last year off 92, two races later he was on 107.

He's never going to set the world alight with early pace, but he's fallen out the last two races and Moriary didn't seem that interested in making up lost ground.

Fahey's got him down to 95 now.

Betfairs down at the moment so I can't see his price. I know it's a huge race but Fahey has a lot of followers, and if the 'word's out', the price will definitely drop.

My first post - taken 25/1 Casual Conquest for the Arc with Coral - best price by miles. Dermot Weld sounds bullish and still improving horse. Surely overpriced?

Had a dabble at 50s ante-post. He's now 12s in the shops and 15.5s on Betfair. Been backed since this morning from 25s. I hope whoever's having it on is right.

That 50/1 is a monster of a price now with the ground is heavy like last year looks nailed on for a place at least imho. Nice one hope you have it e/w cass.
Fahey looks to have a very strong hand in the race and i think BEANDONNER will also go well for him at 25's along with the Haggas pair.

Rainbow View was so impressive today.
More analysis on my thread.

Paddy Power's 10/1 looks extremly good value. 8/1 with Tote 7/1 B365, 6's and 5's with others.

Get On!
