La capriosa was impressive on the all weather over winter/spring won off a mark of 66 at southwell in a claimer but ran a good race at wolverhampton in a handicap off mark 68 to come second last time out, down to 64 today and ehearn taking the ride!

0.5pt e/w la capriosa

7.10 Interdiamonds 11/4 wh bog 10 pts I like both the three year olds here at the bottom but give preference to the one with the more established form. Johnston’s runner here has shown ability in all 3 of her starts. she was second on his first start in small field before chasing home the well regarded racing hero who admittedly was a bitter disappointment after that. However she then got off the mark to win by 3 lengths and the horse she beat ran fairly well afterwards to give some substance to that form. The question mark I guess is the step back up to 12f having ran ok over it two starts back but then finding the winning touch over 10f. However she is by montjeu and I think it was a case of her just finding one too good two starts back than anything else. She could go close today.

6.40 Doncaster

Spiders Star looked a stone cold cert for this race running under a double penalty after a facile win last time out but has been taken out of the race now along with two of the other form horses. What it leaves is a set of out of form horses mixed with a couple of well handicapped ones that are unproved on the ground. However, I think the new top-weight, Agglestone Rock, is the exception with those that remain. He won at Lingfield in February off 59 and is rated only 4 lbs higher now, 1 lb taking into account the jockeys claim so is evidently well handicapped. He won a handicap hurdle at Ayr in May so also has recent form to his name and is proven to see out this two mile trip. As that win came with plenty of cut in the ground I don't think he will be inconvenienced by the ground, so I think he can get the better of Snowberry Hill who looks handicapped to win but as of yet hasn't shown he likes to get his toe in. Agglestone Rock does have to put behind him a poor placing last time out and hence the stake is reduced, but it may have been that 10f was too sharp for him, and the extra mileage tonight could see him bounce back. 9/2 VC Bet.

Bavarian Nordic will strip fitter for his comeback run at Ripon, latest, and should give a good account under Sivestre de Sousa. Ann Duffield's colt had every chance before fading two furlongs out that day, but hadn't been seen since November so it was understandable. Only 3 lbs higher than when successful at Southwell in October he is evidently handicapped to go close, and he will relish these soft conditions having won on similar previously. The fourth of that Ripon race has come out and won since, hopefully this one can follow suit. 7/1 Bet 365, EW.

Mozayada was highly progressive on the all-weather over the winter and went through a spell in which she won 5/6 handicaps, almost doubling her handicap mark. As expected, the handicapper caught up with her and halted the progression, but she has now slipped back into the turf sphere and seems to have dropped down to a very attractive mark. She runs off 67 here, yet has won off 10 lbs higher on the AW. It is fair to say she isnt as good on turf as she is on the AW but still, off this mark she could go close. The deteriorating conditions will suit her down to the ground and ideally she'd want a mudbath as her best form has come on the slow fibresand at Southwell. Her recent turf runs have come on quicker surfaces so although disappointing, may not have been totally ideal. 25/1 PP, EW.

feel in a lucky mood at the minute so doubled up my three above with Select Commitee in the 9.15 - think he will capaitalist on the likely strong pace that will be set and will appreciate the going.

7.10 Timocracy

Loves the softer ground, is top weight here at 10 stone but has ran well at over a stone more lto at Ascot. Has been a very consistent horse over his career especially at in and around this distance.

8.15 Honimiere

Broke her 5 consecutive 4th's by winning lto in a grade 4 1m1f. Seems to me that she prefers this longer distance from her normal 7f mark, coming 4th every start doesnt give away much to what ground is preferred but when ran on the 'soft' ground performed well.

9.15 Selection Committee, Ursus E/W

Dropped down in the weights today after a credable 3rd lto at Beverley. Loves the softer ground which is vital for today so should go close.

Ursus is another horse who prefers the softer ground and in his time thrown up the occasional big price win. Has been very inconsistent in his time but all better performances have been on softer ground so could run well at a relatively big price.

Shaloo Diamond is definitely one to look out for when the ground is like it is. In a very competitive race on paper, he won comfortably.

21:15 Doncaster: Divine Spirit 3pts win 8/1 Bet365 (Bog)

Divine Spirit is capable of being competitive off this mark and in this class. Has wins and places around the low seventies in Class 4. Also likes ground with a bit of cut. Trainer in fine form, and is eight from thirty eight in the last fourteen days. Also high draw should help.

'Select Committee' mentioned above, neck behind Dickie Le Davoir last time out, looks good enough form now

I'm having some 5/1.
