Another North Yorkshire meeting today ......

3.00 Catterick

Summer Dancer originally looks to have a strong chance on first glance but after a bit of a sniff round, I'm going to pass him over as is now up in grade and think this may be a touch too strong for him, I was reading a book the other day and an important adage the author offered was 'don't expect a horse to do something it's never done before' and with this in mind, his record in class 4 or higher is 74633434520690, which doesn't fill me with confidence for a seasoned campaigner. Course specialist Turn Me On looks to be able to make a bold bid, paradoxically to Summer Dancer is back down in grade after been outclassed in a grade 3 LTO but before that won here when conditions (ground, grade, dist) were exactly the same. I think Nuit Sombre could go well fresh if doesn't get into a duel up front with Bold Marc.

Summer Dancer - 1pt LAY @ 3.35
Nuit Sombre - 0.5pts E/W @ 19.5/4.50

Catterrick 17.00

Bijou Dan
gets the nod for me, won around here off 62 in may and seems to make some of his best runs round here with his last four being placed winning twice.
Dropped back in trip but that shouldn't be a problem as he's got form from 7f all the way up to 16f, running off 63 today with the same jockey and going as his last victory he should be in the running for this.

Available at around 11/2

Catterick 15.30

Nuit Sombre is more than capable of taking this contest fresh, looking back at last season its seemed the handicapper had all year till he hit form in three of his last four runs with one a good 2nd over C&D with marks of 70-72.
Twice a C&D winner anyway has won before off more than todays 71 fresh, jockey knows him well and if the yard have him fit has big place claims.

Available at around 16/1

Both winners so far have made all effortlessly and never been headed, albeit in poor races. Makes me fancy Nuit Sombre a bit more now.

I still think Turn Me On is tough to oppose back with Graham Gibbons on this course.

3.30 Catt

Bold Marc looks the one to beat here. Shaped as if this drop back to seven would suit when headed inside final furlong over a mile at Carl, latest, and has a history of going well here. Is capable of finding a race off this sort of mark, yard in decent enough form, and done much of his racing in this grade.

Tim Walford has just been on RUK talking about a possible nutritional problem with the yard and said "I'd wait til friday before having a bet".

4.00 Red Cape 5/1 Coral

With Maison Deau running off a carrer high mark, and Hansomis failing yesterday to frank Maison Deau's win LTO, I've looked to Red Cape for the winner. A course and distance winner, the going looked to be against him at Newcastle LTO, when he stilled finished quite respectably. Back on a going that suits today, with his turf wins all being on good or good/firm, also having won twice in the past month at this 6f distance.

5.00 Catterick

Bijou Dan has an excellent course record and in what looks to be a pretty poor race he may be the best of a bad bunch. He is only a couple of pounds higher than when winning here in May, has form at this shorter trip, and has won on good-firm ground twice. 6/1 Bet 365.

HARCAS 5.00 Catterick.

0.5 points each way.

The ground today doesn't suit everybody, but it suits us and although we need to step up a little on all known recent form, we should be able to get the run of the race and also get in this race off an attractive looking mark of 57. The trip's not a concern, so if he can muster up his ability, then there's no reason why he shouldn't go close at decent enough odds.

Cheers fellas.....

.....3 of you fancy Bijou Dan in the 5.00..... well I've backed this one before, so I think I'll have a "small" dabble on it too, before withdrawing the rest.
