John, yeah saw it was a NR mate, I suppose the only option if your having a selection in the very last race of the day is to name a reserve selection and just say why its the danger or something, not really thought of that one.
I suppose the point is your main selection is supposed to be your 'best bet of the day' does that mean that the 'danger' would be a best bet if your fancy wasnt running, only you can answer that one.
I know what you mean though, its annoying when you dont have a runner at all.
I wouldnt want to be accepting late bets within the 10 minutes though, that opens a can of worms i'd rather leave locked to be honest.

Any thoughts on a better solution?

Quite happy with the ten minute rule.

How about if we select a horse that isn't favourite (like mine) but we rate the favourite as the danger ? Would it be okay to put F.I.A. (favourite if absent) without typing out the extra reasoning?

It's not often I go as in depth as BillyThePunter, who also gives his opinion of those that are fancied. So, in a similar scenario, what about if we name the horse that's considered to be the danger in the analysis, and if the NAP selection doesn't run, it automatically switches to the NB alternative, but if we don't name a danger, we get a non-runner.

Others must have a view on this, so I'll just go with the flow.

I think this has happened to all at some point in the comp, however i dont agree that you can revert to another horse named as the horse you select is your Best Bet of the Day, if it doesnt run, are you saying that actually the other horse you named in the race is worthy of that title. The rules are fine as they are IMO.

I agree with Milen here, i would rather not have reserves all over the place.
On reflection we will leave it as it is, you can repost if your nap is a NR as long as its within the 10 min rule which has been done before many times.

And another month comes to an end, a bit of an anti climax as all the top 5 players posted losers today and this leaves Verismilitude to take the title for May. Very well done mate, was the leader on day one and came back to snatch it off Guy Fawkes right at the end.
Good performances from the top 5 who all made a profit on what has been the most difficult month for the thread so far.

Our strike suffered a bit and we recorded the worst profit figures since the competition began but overall we are still hitting 1 in 3 winners.

All starts again tomorrow, all have clean slates, and a new enthusiasm in our attempt to beat the enemy.
