Best Bet Of The Day Tables ~ June 2008

1. Reasoning is STRICTLY required for all bets
2. STRICTLY no editing of posts containing tips, if you need to correct something do it in another post, any late edits will result in disqualification from the competition.
3. 1 Bet per day, Max. If more than one is posted the FIRST named horse will count only.
4. No Reserves allowed, although if you have a NR you can repost another selection
5. All bets posted must be at least 10 mins before the race time (no exceptions)and include the Time, Course and Selection
6. Starting Price will be used for all calculations
7. All bets are to a total stake of 1pt
8. You may choose a 1pt Win bet, a 0.5pt Each Way bet or a 1pt Lay bet. If you do not state a bet type, it will be entered as a 1pt Win bet. The following rules apply for Lay and Each Way bets:

   The following terms will be applied to all each way bets:
   Non-Handicaps
   5-7 runners = 1/4 odds 1-2
   8+ runners = 1/5 odds 1-2-3
   Handicaps
   5-7 runners = 1/4 odds 1-2
   8-11 runners = 1/5 odds 1-2-3
   12-15 runners = 1/4 odds 1-2-3
   16+ runners = 1/4 odds 1-2-3-4
10. Lay Bets
    All lay bets are lay to win only.
    All lay bets must have a Racing Post forecast of 4/1 (5.00) or less.
11. All races and race types listed in the Racing Post Cards and Results with an SP are acceptable
12. In all cases, the Forum moderators agreed decision is final
13. "Best Bet of the Day” Award Rules, each month an award will be given for the top tipster. You must post at least 10 bets in compliance with the above rules within a calender month.
14. For strike rate purposes, any bet that makes a profit will be declared a winner, any EW bet that is placed but returns less than the 1pt stake will be marked up as a loser.

Off we go again, 16 tipsters and 4 winners to kick us off.
BH grabs his 15 minutes of fame while he can with a 9/1 winner EW, (thank god for summer jumps eh!). Bathaz got off to a nice steady start napping the jolly in the first at Perth which won easy enough at 10/11.
Trotter went off to France for his nap which won at 8/13 and Rainbow's change of tactics going back to tipping good things instead of 20/1 rags paid dividends with a 1/2 winner to get him off the mark.
Unlucky for Falbrav who must have a curse on him in this thread but he's made of strong stuff and will be back in profit in a few days for sure.

Decent day today with 4 winners and a place, Milen goes to the top when his old system of opposing odds on chances EW paid up in full, his selection winning at 10/1. We had two tipsters napping Baltazaars Gift at 100/30, WoodyTHFC and SteveO were the shrewdies and ends a long losing spell for Steve.
CC75 has soon got back on the winning trail this month when his banker Tax Free won well in Ireland at 5/4 and the other bet with a return was from Bathaz who's EW bet was placed at 15/2.

Just a note to anyone wishing to join in this competition, everyone is welcome to enter, but can I just remind them to read the rules in post No 1. We do require good reasoning, short one liners will not be accepted and no editing of posts are allowed, if thats your style of posting then you may want to keep your bets for the daily threads only.

Not a bad return on a difficult day with changing goings and NR's all over the shop.
Falbrav got back to winning ways with a nice 4/1 winner and Bathaz followed suit with a different animal that won at the same price, he his now 3/3 this month and in fine form.
BH had a winner at Sedgefield at 13/2 (ew) and we also had three placed EW bets.
Cassius had a 7/1 place for a bit of profit, JS Cosgrove just missed out on a profit when his EW bet was placed at 9/2. Milen's choice was shortened due to NR's and was second at 3/1.
Chris Lloyd was the days layer and successful too, his selection was well beaten as predicted.
Welcome top Tafflizgreg, finally getting a bet on the boards, not a winner this time i'm afraid.

Terrific day for the thread with 5 winners, 4 places and a Lay and a nice profit overall.
Best priced winner came from our current champ Verisimilitude, his EW nap won at 11/2 to get him back into profit this time round. Billy The Punter finally gave in and went looking for a proper bet over the jumps , he showed his all round knowledge with a fine 4/1 winning nap and he's back in business.
The top two napped the same horse, Milen was the bravest and went for the win while BH played safe with an EW bet, anyway the beast won at 7/2 and Milen closed the gap a touch. Our other winner was from Winner4Me he napped the Nicholls good thing at 11/10 to end his losing run.
Stewart had the best placed effort, his selection second at 14/1, Bowles was unlucky when his EW bet was just caught at 9/1 and Cassius made it a hat-trick when his horse was also second at 6/1. All making a little profit unlike Bathaz who's EW bet was only 5/2 and although placed, lost money.
To round the scoring off we had Chris Lloyd with another good Lay bet, his horse was well beaten at 5/2.

Only joking, todays each way tip went from 8s to 6s on course, and 9s to 13/2 (was 12s the night before) on Betfair and yesterdays went from 14s to 7s on course, but still 12/1 on the off on Betfair.

Bowles was the only other punter to get near when he got his stake back for his 4/1 third.

Absolute shocker today for the thread, only two EW bets got placed and one of those lost money, Getaway was the main culprit on a day of shocks.
Milen made up some ground when his bet was 3rd at 7/1 and PL Crewman had a second but at 100/30 made a small loss.

Well nobody found the Derby winner, PL Crewman did the second EW for a slight profit. Billy The Punter got his money back for a 4/1 second, only beaten a short head so a touch unlucky there.
Milen was the only winner with My Turn Now, an easy winner at 7/4 and he goes into the lead and looks like he has found his form once again and could be hard to catch.

A winner and 3 places helped to make it a respectable day today on a pretty poor days racing.
Milen had an 11/2 third to maintain his lead at the top, Tipster5000 followed suit for his first bet of the month.
BH stays second when his nap won at 2/5 and Winner4Me is in fourth spot after his EW bet was a close second at 8/1.

Just one winner and two places on a quiet day for the thread.
Billy The Punter takes advantage of the leaders having a bad day when his nap won at 9/2 (EW), he now goes fourth for the month.
Tipster5000 had the second at 7/1 behind the long odds on shot at Newton Abbot for a little profit and Welshman was a bit unlucky when his EW bet was beaten in a photo at 12/1, a nice tip anyway and gets him of the mark.

Html has been disabled on the PL so the tables are a bit of a problem at the minute so please bear with me, posting images at the minute.

Much better today from many of you, 3 winners and 4 good placed selections shake things up a bit.
Verisimilitude our current champion threw his hat in the ring for a double when his EW bet won at 10/1, he goes into third spot.
Jack Jarvis got off the mark when his Nap won at Evens and Rainbow had the easy winner at Southwell, Our Choice at 8/11.
Of the placed bets, Falbrav had an 8/1 second, Mowgli a 7/1 second and both Guy Fawkes and Welshman had a 6/1 third.
A good effort with some near misses and as the top two seem to have hit a dodgy spell it could all close up soon.

With 2 out the top 3 not posting and Bh having a NR it all stays pretty much the same.
We had 3 winners and a Lay today so not bad overall.
Bowles led the way with a nice 100/30 winner to move him up the table, Jack Jarvis followed up his winner from yesterday with a 2/1 shot to get back to level stakes. Billy The Punter moves ominously into fifth spot when his nap won at 4/5.
Falbrav got back on the Laying trail, his selection well beaten at 5/1.

Milen extends his lead with his 6/1 second (EW) as BH lost 83p when his lay won at 5/6 and Veris had a loser.
ChrisLloyd moves into fourth after his nap won at 100/30 but he did it EW so missed out on the full profit but the best winner of the day.
Falbrav made it 3/3 when his banker won at 4/6 and we had three places, PL Crewman was the best of them with a 10/1 second.
Rainbow had a 7/1 place and CC75 ended his drought with an 11/2 place.

A couple of good winners from Welshman and Billy The Punter today helps the profit for the thread.
Welshman had a nice 8/1 winner (EW) to move into the top six and Billy The Punter is one place ahead of him after his nap won easily at 9/4.
BH and Verisimilitude had placed EW bets to stay second and third and closes up on Milen who had a loser.

Just two winners and a place today but a dramatic change to the table.
Russ comes back after a lay off and posts a superb 14/1 winner (EW) and takes over at the top. The problem is he has to post another 9 bets in 16 days for it to count, lets hope we see more of Russ as a result.
Losers for the majority of those near the top and its still anyones title this time round.
Our other winner was from Guy Fawkes, his nap won easily at 4/7 and Falbrav had a nice 9/1 place to land his EW bet.
