Reasoning is STRICTLY required for all bets (All reasoning must be the authors original copy)
STRICTLY no editing of posts containing tips, if you need to correct something do it in another post, any late edits will result in disqualification from the competition.
1 Bet per day, Max. If more than one is posted they will be void unless a main pick is specified by the poster.
No Reserves allowed, although if you have a NR you can repost another selection
All bets posted must be at least 10 mins before the race time (no exceptions)and include the Time, Course, Price and Selection
Early prices can be taken but must be available at the time of the post in the competition thread, these will be checked and if the price was not available SP will be used, any constant infringement of this rule will result in elimination from the competition. Layers can also take prices in the same manner.
Prices cant be changed once posted and must be in the origional post, the first price taken is the only one that will count, all edits can be seen by moderators.
Any Bets with no price quoted or Bookmaker stated will be taken at SP
The prices can be taken at the following bookmakers only; Bet365, Skybet, Totesport, Boyles, Betfred, Sportingbet, VCBet, BlSquare, PPower, Stan James, Ladbrokes, Corals, Hills and 888sport. No Exchange Prices are allowed.
R4 5p and 10p will be waived for the purpose of the competition.
Best Odds Guaranteed is allowed at the following Bookies only;
Bet365, Tote, Boyles, Betfred, VCBet, Paddy Power, SJames, Laddies, Corals and Hills
You may choose a 1pt Win bet, a 0.5pt Each Way bet or a 1pt Lay bet. If you do not state a bet type, it will be entered as a 1pt Win bet. The following rules apply for Lay and Each Way bets:

The following terms will be applied to all each way bets:
Non-Handicaps
5-7 runners = 1/4 odds 1-2
8+ runners = 1/5 odds 1-2-3
Handicaps
5-7 runners = 1/4 odds 1-2
8-11 runners = 1/5 odds 1-2-3
12-15 runners = 1/4 odds 1-2-3
16+ runners = 1/4 odds 1-2-3-4
Lay Bets
All lay bets are lay to win only, and can be on any race at any price.
All Lay bets are to be calculated to 1pt Liability basis.
All races and race types listed in the Racing Post Cards and Results with an SP are acceptable
In all cases, the Forum moderators agreed decision is final
The BBOTD Competition will be sponsored by Stan James, £15 to the winner and £10 to the runner up each month. The winners will require a Stan James account to accept these awards, these prizes can not be withdrawn. The free bet prizes must be used within 30 days or they will be deleted from your SJ account. 12 bets must be placed each month to qualify.
"Best Bet of the Day” Award Rules, each month an award will be given for the top tipster. You must post at least 12 bets in compliance with the above rules within a calender month.
For strike rate purposes, any bet that makes a profit will be declared a winner, any EW bet that is placed but returns less than the 1pt stake will be marked up as a loser.
The Tipster with the best profit overall at the end of Dec 31st 2010 will recieve a Trophy. Minimum 100 bets throughout the year must be posted for this award.

Ok guys here we go again, no rest for the wicked eh!
5 winners on the first day with Stu Simmy and Dannyfield getting the same winner at 7/1, Stu went for the win bet so gets an early lead. CC75 had a nice 5/2 winner to get him off the mark while Markmywords had a placed effort. Zero got his lay beat at 7/1 unlike me

Quick question BH...

...Seeing as we are working with betfair now, ie lay prices, can we not do our BBOTD as a place only bet, ie 1pt place (betfair SP)?

Spooner, we are not working with Betfair in the BBOTD comp mate, its just too difficult to prove prices were available, only the lay comp and that was to enable place lays thats all.

Danny hits the top after a nice 8/1 winner, CC75 stays third with a 100/30 nap and Skylark moves up thanks to a 7/2 winner. Hucks kicked off the month on a good note when his nap won at 5/2 while Zero layed the Nicholls fav at 7/4 which was beat a long way from home.
Spooner, Chris and Wizzkid all had the good thing of the day at Southwell with prices varying from 4/9 to 1/4.

A cracking day all round with loads of winners and the lead changing again. Fintron takes the headlines when his repost won at 33/1 (EW), shrewd move mate

. Tedthewolf also hit a double figure winner when his EW nap won at 14/1 and he goes third. Sandwiched in between them is Dannyfield who had his third winner on the trot at 3/1. CC75 is also 100% for the month after an 11/10 winner. Wizzkid Walter moves into the top six with a 100/30 nap and two newcomers to the comp this month are just behind him. Alex had a 2/1 winner and Mickel Arteta a 5/2 shot. The two layers were on form, Zero and Palaceman laying the same horse at 9/2 but the latter got in early and layed at half that price.
This looks an exciting month in store already, keep it up guys.

9 winners today and the front two are setting a cracking pace, Fintron had a 9/2 winner (EW) and Dannyfield a 9/2 winner on the nose. Stu Simmy back in third nearly joined them when his 33/1 shot was second, another big priced place was from Spooner with a 25/1 chance over in Dubai.
Elsewhere Skylark had a 6/1 winner, Wizzkid Walter a 2/7 shot while Alexmac and Irn Bru Moo both had an Even money winner. Zero layed a 9/4 chance to extend his winning run and round things up for today.

A quick lesson from Ogii on how to go from bottom to top in one go, Peters Star wins for him at 33/1 and takes over the lead.

5 other winners today too, Mickel Atreta had a 2/1 nap, Alex a 85/40 winner, BH a 2/1 shot and Zero's lay was second at 15/8. Verisi also had a return with his 14/1 place to move up a couple of spots.

Beginning to run out of superlatives already after just 6 days of Feb, 8 winners and anything tipped up today between 2/13 and 250/1! This comp has certainly become a different animal this year.

Ogii takes the headlines again, this time with a 25/1 winner

his overall total looks a million miles away from most of us already. Hope it doesnt stop people trying, or posting their 'best bets'. Terrific stuff though guys!!
Aswell as Ogii's winner we had Stu Simmy with a 12/1 winner, Alex and IBM had Punchestowns at 4/11, Wizzkid Walter had Binocular, BH had a 6/4 shot, Jay a 5/2 chance and Mowgli had a 28/1 4th.
