Default ATR - Review

Every weekend, I'll be including a weekly review of ATR. This will include whose 'hot', winners, successes, hard luck stories, etc. I'm sure when you read the review, you will be amazed just how good this forum is and how many winners are put up on a consistent basis.

Feel free to add anything you feel necessary in this thread

So, what’s been going on in ATR over the last 7 days?

Last Saturday saw a cracking days racing and the PL team in great form as usual. JackG’s Valuescope thread hit the mark with Ibn Khaldun 1st @ 11/4, and City Leader 2nd @ 8/1, so a very nice forecast landed there. FleetFanatic also had the winner at an early 4/1, whilst Carl, Bowles & Woodie were on the runner up at a nice EW price. Add the fact that only 3 horses in total were tipped up in this Doncaster race, landing the forecast is excellent going. Apollonios had a 16/1 3rd too with Akarem, making it a good day in this thread. Only 1 selection in the Stratford thread and a winner at 9/4 for the superb BillyHills, available at 4’s earlier, whilst WoodyTHFC has the 2/1 winner at Chepstow in Don’t Push It, that too the only selection at that meeting. Mowgli had a 13/2 3rd at Newbury for his specialist thread, in the shape of Ivy Creek. Only 2 bets in the EW fancies thread, with a 5/1 3rd from Falbrav (shortened in from 8/1), with the bet of Craven. The lays, as usual, were brilliant with a full house, 3 from 3, thanks to BillyHills, Falbrav and JackG. Over to the Breeders Cup and Cavelloman takes the plaudits with his 11/2 winner, English Channel. FleetFanatic followed him home with 2 winners, at 2/1 (War Pass) and 4/1 (Curlin).

Onto Sunday, and a super card at Aintree. Mowgli, Apollonios and Cavelloman were on Monets Garden in the big race and it duly obliged at 9/4, whilst Bowles and Woodie had the 4/6 winner in Tidal Bay, advised at 10/11. Bowles wasn’t finished as he provided a great bit of info over at Towcester, and the selection Bermuda Pointe trotted up at 11/8. JT’s specialist thread produced a short priced winner in Crocodiles Rock at 4/9. 2 more lays landed too with JackG and PeteG laying Ashley Brook (to place) and Kauto Star. For those wanting something a bit different, a super 6/4 winner with Kevsul correctly predicting the distance market at Aintree.

That’s the weekend done and I’ll be back tomorrow with the stories from during the week…..

(let me know if this works for you guys, and also if I’ve missed anything)

Onto Monday and what is traditionally a very quiet day on the horse racing front. This proved no different for the meetings in England, with only the Kempton card attracting any real interest. Carl had Adversity, winning at 1/3 although expected SP was to be 6/4, following that with New Guinea obliging at 11/10 over at Leicester, the only bet at that track for PL’ers. WoodyTHFC had a 10/1 3rd from his only bet at Kempton, in the shape of Arabian Spirit (which he also posted up in the EW Fancies), whilst Apollonios had 2 from 5 finishing placed, Fastrac Boy at the early 18/1 and Emma Jean Lad at the early 4’s. Woodie was also on Emma Jean Lad as a win bet, but it was just outpointed by Encores, the Spencer mount. TheRat got Bold Cross placed too at an early 8’s, the horse being shortened in to 5’s at the off. In the Naps, Falbrav wins the day with a super 4/1 winner with Ten To The Dozen, and also had it in the EW Fancies as it had been available at 7’s previously. Interestingly, the EW Fancies thread had 2 posts in it, a 10/1 placed and a 4/1 winner (backed in from 7’s). Excellent going there proving that, even on Mondays, there is profit to be made. Falbrav completes his good day with a winning (is that the right terminology?) lay in the Lay of the Day thread.

Unbelievably quiet Tuesday but some very poor racing. The lay thread, though, came up trumps as usual with 3 successful lays (another full house!) from Danny Cash, Asificare and Falbrav. Nothing else to report!

Wednesday saw PL resume normal service with some horses being put up and, of course, many of them obliging. Over to Huntingdon, Otanique was a 7/2 winner for Bowles and WoodyTHFC (who also had it in his specialist jumps thread) , whilst Carl and RussP had the Henderson hotpot Scots Dragoon at a shade of odds on 10/11. The 3.30 at Lingfield again summed up what this forum is all about, 2 horses selected, and the 1-2, with WoodyTHFC and Hoprock on the 15/2 winner, New York Oscar, and WorkingForTheEnemy completing the forecast with 7/2 shot Texas Gold. WoodyTHFC also had this winner in the EW Fancies. The evening meeting at Kempton was quiet although Ksportz somehow managed a 16/1 2nd with Contented, after backing the wrong horse! Another full house too in the lays, with JackG, Falbrav and DannyCash doing the business today.

This is more work than I thought, because of the sheer volume of winners from ATR. Fantastic work guys, and I’ll be back later with successes from November….

Onto Thursday, and let's start with a fantastic winner from a fantastic long running thread, Mowgli's Specialist Thread. He rowed in with 10/1 shot Loulwa from Lingfield and this is just another in a long line of great winners in this thread in 2007. So, what else from Lingfield? Not much of note, other than a 12/1 2nd (Solicitude), landing the EW money for RussP. Over to Newcastle and the jumps, starting with Jingles from an absence to open with an Evs winner in Park Prodigy from just the 1 bet (posted as his Nap too), whilst Bowles lands a 10/3 winner in Charlie Crab by following trainer records, from just 2 selections.

Another quietish day on Friday, with nothing posted at all in the Wolverhampton and Wetherby threads. 2 from 3 in the lays with JackG and Falbrav the winning ones. Over at Uttoxeter, Bowles puts up 2 to take on the fav in the novice hurdle and they finish 2nd and 3rd at 4/1 and 7/1 respectively, so EW profit there. Bowles again was the one to follow in the Newmarket thread, with 4 selections all based on trainers stats, resulting in a super 10/1 winner and a 14/1 3rd. Could have been even better but had another run out of it into 4th at 8/1.

So, despite 2 relevant 'light' days in terms of selections posted, no shortage of winners which would have given anyone following a very tidy profit. Over these 2 days, we saw winners at 10/1, 10/1, 10/3, Evs and more placed at 14/1, 12/1, 7/1 and 4/1. Yes, I'd like to see a bit more quantity in the threads but there is still no denying the quality that you guys are putting in. Well done.

Weekend to follow, and yet more decent priced winners to add.....

Ok, back to last Saturday (3rd Nov) and more winners (& losers!) in ATR. Probably the biggest success of the day came in a successful thread, Bowles Specialist Trends where he had the 9/1 winner Kanad, and 10/1 2nd Platin Grounds from just 3 picks in this 16 runner race. That winner puts this thread in healthy shape with a 245pt overall profit and a yield of over 23%. In that race, another 2 races were tipped for that in the Ascot thread, with one of those, Altilhar, filling 3rd place at 10/1 having been selected by WoodyTHFC. Altilhar was also 1 of 2 selected for the Valuescope thread of JackG's, with the other finishing unplaced. So, for 5 selections out of 16, we could have had the trifecta up at around £900.

Another long running thread in good shape is RussP's Specialist Flat Handicap thread, and he had an 8/1 winner in the shape of Purus from just the 1 bet. Profit now at almost 700pts with a 40%+ yield. The naps thread produced 1 winner from 2 bets, with Woody THFC having Taranis as his pick, an 10/11 winner at Down Royal whilst the lays were 2 from 3, with PeteG and JackG the successful guys, but BJK winning at prohibitive odds to foil that lay. Carl, however, was one to benefit from BJK's win at 4/6. The only other positive in the Wetherby thread was WoodyTHFC's 3rd at 25/1 of Little Said.

Not exactly overrun with winners on Saturday, but enough to keep us well in profit, with 2 nice priced winners.

Sunday onwards coming soon.....

Cheers Pete

Firstly, let me apologise for not keeping this up to date last month. Work commitments unfortunately took over.

Anyway, into December and we begin the month with the new PL ATR comp, Best Bet of the Day, and the Hennessey from Newbury. The comp didn't exactly break any records on its first day, however Mileni opened his account with the 5/1 winner of the big race, Denman. Fast Feet, at 6/4, was also a winner in this thread thanks to Woodie, as was Salute for JackG at 5/4. In terms of EW betting, Hoprock also secured a small profit thanks to Junctiontwentyfour's 2nd place at 11/2. So 3 winners and 1 placed from 17 bets on Day One of the comp. Mowgli's Specialist thread had a 12/1 placed in the Hennessey in the shape of Character Building, whilst RussP's Specialist thread had an 11/1 placed with Waterside over at Kempton. However, both threads had losers too ending up down on the day. JackG's Valuescope thread again came up trumps with the 16/1 2nd Dream Alliance in the big race from 2 bets, advised early at 25's. That means that PL members advised the first 3 home in the Hennessey at 5/1, 16/1 and 8/1, the trifecta paying over £2,000. There were some good write ups in the Hennessey thread, however only Bowles10 and WoodyTHFC managed to pick out the very impressive winner, Denman. WoodyTHFC also had this in his specialist thread, and backed that up with a 12/1 2nd in Chief Yeoman, whilst Bowles10 had Inglis Drever at 9/4 to go with Denman to secure him a very nice profit on the day. Gingertipster also found the Hennessey winner.

In the daily threads, Newbury started well with Carl on runaway winner Helens Visions at a very nice price of 7/2 and Whispering Secret advised EW at 6/1 finishing 3rd, whilst Billboard had Inglis Drever at 15/8 and also advised the forecast with Special Envoy 2nd, paying around £8. Tedthewolf found Character Building to finish 3rd at 8/1 (12/1 EP) and also takes the honours for bet of the day with 20/1 winner Kelrev, 14/1 SP.
Newcastle proved a tough nut to crack with only an EP 10/1 3rd on Royal Rosa to show for our efforts, that was thanks to Tedthewolf. Wolverhampton, meanwhile, proved no problem to Woodie who weighed in with a double, his nap Fast Feet at 6/4 with Salute at 5/4 making it a perfect night. At the other AW meeting, both PL Crewman and Woodie has Dansant as the sole winner in this thread at 5/4.

All this for a Saturday! Sunday coming up and, although not as many horse tipped up, an amazing day for the Best Bet of the Day thread.....

Let me apologise yet again for this complete shambles. Been away on hols but still no excuse.

New Years Resolution, but starting from Boxing Day.......I will be summarising the daily meeting threads and Best Bet of the Day threads, as most of the other threads should have the posts copied into the dailys anyway.

I will endeavour to update this every couple of nights but ANYONE can update this thread, that is no problem.

Will try to summarise each thread with an overall daily P/L from all tips. Obviously being more selective will allow even more profit from the superb advice given on here

Next update = Boxing Day
