Default 2000 Guineas Today

Thought i'd see if we can come up with the winner. My thoughts are pretty simple.
Lay the Fav as they have pretty poor record in race, only 1 out of last 10 won.
Already backed Strategic Prince and HAATEF ewante post and happy to stay with them. Bring good form to the table ,ground in favour, experiance on course and run in a big field of runners before.

Im backing 2 here although I could back another 5 but Im sticking to my guns

Dutch Art is a nice price 12/1-16/1
Highest rated,
He will get the mile as he will be fitter for that last run.

Major Cadeaux
Beat above LTO trainer has won this 3 times and he has said he is the best colt he has trained in years

and a cheeky E/W on Bin Suroors @ 40's

I think it's wide open havn't really got a strong fancy. I did back Dutch Art ante post at 6/1 which looks beaten already having drifted out to about 24s last week I toped up a few quid purely cause the price was to big.
I have also have a bit on Eagle Mountain at 50s this week.

They my only bets so far have just backed Stragetic Prince to place but doubt I will backing anything else. Just looking forward to a top race

Hell of a race to be honest.

Major Cadeaux, Adagio, Strategic Prince, Dutch Art, US Ranger, Diamond Tycoon and Hateef ALL stand big chances of winning the race.

I however will be avoiding them all and looking at bigger odds horses at each way value.

Eagle Mountain, Tobosa and Cockney Rebel all stand out at bigger odds... Ill discount Eagle Mountain, due to having a particular dislike for Aiden O'Brien's horses.

Leaving me..backing Tobosa and Cockney Rebel E/W.

I'm backing Diamond Tycoon. Only won a maiden last time out, but could hardly have been more impressive in doing so. Guineas winners are often unexposed types with a progressive profile.

I'll be on Eagle Mountain meself @25/1 pp ew of course.
Trained by Aidan O'Brien, ridden by Christophe Soumillon. This horse won a Group 2 at The Curragh by seven lengths last year, but then was fourth in heavy ground at Newbury.

Looks to be quite an open Guineas. For the likely winner I feel Adagio has very strong claims and was impressive LTO. At the prices though I like Strategic Prince e.w. Good form as a two year old and impressive in the Dewhurst when third in possibly not ideal conditions. Also, Prime Defender possibly is too big at 100/1. Remember a couple of years ago when two 100/1 shots were placed and this horse did beat the more fancied Tobosa LTO.

my horse to follow is Strategic Prince however my trends show US Ranger stands a major chance.

Will be betting ew on Strat Prince & Win on US Ranger with a reverse f/cast to boot.

Read an interesting stat on another forum and used it with the odds range of winner to come up with a selection for the Guineas.
The last 11 winners were BORN NO LATER THAN 26TH MARCH.
3 in JAN , 3 in FEB , 5 in MARCH .

Could this be coincidence or does the advantage of being born earlier help
physical growth so much that anything not born in this period is at a serious disadvantage ??

So looking at the first 6 in the RP betting , ADAGIO [ BORN 7 APR] , U.S RANGER [ 22 APR] , HAATEF [11 MAY] , STRATEGIC PRINCE [9 MAY] can be discounted and that leaves DIAMOND TYCOON [23 MAR] and MAJOR CADEAUX [ 1 MAR ].

Going for MAJOR CADEAUX as DIAMOND TYCOON is drawn 1 while the selection is drawn ,only slightly better , in 7.

For me, it's between US RANGER and DIAMOND TYCOON. Both have significant improvement in them and, in an open race, I'd go EW on both.

US RANGER unbeaten so we don't know how good this horse can be, whilst DIAMOND TYCOON won in a cracking time at Newbury lto.

Thanks Lads.

Had £10 E/W on both...so a decent profit.

Much harder race today in my opinion.
