Default Re: African Nations Cup 2008 - Outright

A couple of small outrights for me.

1pt ew Mali to win African Cup of Nations 20/1 Ladbrokes

Whenever they've qualified for the ANC, Mali have never finished worse than 4th. They've had problems in the past with their fans kicking off but that only shows the passion that the country has for football. They've got some stars of the big leagues in their side too which will help them. Freddy Kanoute, Mahamadou Diarra and Mohamed Sikkoko are all well known names. Seydou Keita is at Seville and Stoke fans will know of Mamady Sidebe. They've also a few players playing in the top league in France too so there's quality in their squad. They are in a trickyish group with Ivory Coast and Nigeria with Benin seemingly making up the numbers but if they can beat either Ivory Coast or Nigeria then the draw opens up and they could make the latter stages again.

1pt ew Angola to win African Cup of Nations 66/1 Sportingbet

Angola have done well in the recent past on the big stages. They not only qualified for the world cup but performed well there when they got there. A narrow defeat to Portugal was followed by draws with Mexico and Iran and if they perform like that here they could surprise a few at a big price. Figueiredo is their main man in midfield while Flavio - their goalscorer in the world cup is their main man up front. Rui Marques plays in England with Leeds. Angola are in an open group which is expected to be dominated by Senegal but that's not a certainty and once again if they can get through the group the latter stages could well await.
