I concur honesty and honour cuts both ways but this is certainly not true for bookies. Bookies loved me when I was loosing money and once I got the hang of the game and started to get my money back, they cut my stakes. And I'm not talking about the small firms only. If you accidentally select the wrong horse because it has the same price as your selection and then ask them to void the bet (before the start of the race and before any price change) because you, the punter, made a clerical/palpable error they will refuse to do so so why should punters allow them to get away with clerical or 'palpable' errors? I have found several occassions when the incorrect price has been displayed for an unreasonably long time which I am sure is just to get more unwary punters to loose their money. They also take advantage of punters by not updating prices in a timely manner when there are non runners so the punter thinks he is getting a better price than he actually is. There should be some rule about reductions made on prices which makes the SP of the horse higher so if you take a 5/1 price and there is a 10p deduction but the SP of the horse is 6/1, the deduction should not be applied.
