I think play money is okay, to learn how it all works round the table..
But it wont teach you much poker.. There its better to play some real money, 0,10/0,20 fx..

And then i will say, play some fixed limits. as it will limit your losses in the beginning, and you can concentrate on the poker playing, not wondering if your pot odds are correct etc all the time
