Default External Hard Drive Advice II (drive corrupted - can I rescue data?)

When I was rebuilding my PC, I saved data to an external (IOMEGA) USB hard drive, but at some point it appears to have become damaged (not physically) and it looks like I've lost most of my archive

Anyone know any software that may recover data from the drive? Or any other hints and tips that may fix it?

When I plug the USB drive in now, it shows up as a drive and maps it to E: (but is not recognised as the drive with the name/label in the way it used to be). It is not accessable for navigation.
