I'd say it does help mate and definitely worth a pop, even if it drags just another hours kip out of him it'll be dosh well spent. I say that because when our first was that age, she'd sleep 12 hours from about 7pm till 7am, she'd have a good feed, and go back till 9/9.30
we had a blacked out room then btw. It's not so bad in the middle of winter but the summer months when its light at 5 the lil feckers see the sunlight and want to get up
