I can understand how the previous employees could have left code in the sofware (a backdoor) that allowed them to see hole cards, what really worries me is that the perpetrators either had "friends" within the existing organisation that allowed them to change their player ids OR still had access and access codes to the databases where this info was/is stored. This shows that the new owners are (at best) incompetent or (at worst) in on it.
Given this story I'd never put any money into Absolute or Ultimate even though the stakes in the games I play are unlikely to be targetted in this way ... (then I think ... in some $10 tournies the potential 1st place winnings are significant ... so maybe I have played in a fixed game).
The biggest defence we have against well known poker sites allowing this sort of stuff is PUBLICITY. |
