This thread cannot be complete without a glossary of a few different bets.
Win single - Should read win single figure.
You have to win under £10 or it's made void.
Win double - A bet you have that normally gives you one winner and another horse beaten in a photo.
Win treble - sometimes known as the dieting bet. Used primarily to get your weight down in the days before
Betfair.
Your first two selections win at big prices, then you can't eat or sit still until the last one runs. One poor chap back in 1980 had a 33-1 winner and a 25-1 winner going on to an even money shot that night at the dog track. He went for a walk, which developed into a trot, others joined in for fun, and this was how the London Marathon started.
Each-way bet - A real value bet on a horse at 33-1 that will finish 4th in an 8 horse race or 5th in a 16 runner handicap.
Round Robin (a.k.a. The
Dawn French) Fat bird seen on telly at Xmas.
Ante-post bet - A bet at 50/1 that will be withdrawn when it gets as low as 4/1
Yankee - a multiple bet consisting of 11 bets in 6 doubles 4 trebles and an accuumulator, that you will get up once every Pancake Friday
Goliath - Big fcuker turned over at 1.01 by skinny kid named David.
