Adelaide United has finalised its team for their opening match of the AFC Champions League against South Korea's Pohang Steelers on Wednesday night.With new signings Alvin Ceccolio and Sasa Ognenovski both unavailable due to family reasons, United coach Aurelio Vidmar has opted for a blend of youth and experience in his starting line-up.
Australian Qantas Under-23 representative Bruce Djite will be United's leading man up front while rising star Robert Cornthwaite has been named in a central defensive position alongside experienced campaigner Angelo Costanzo. Eugene Galekovic will start in goals while Diego and Jonas Salley have been named to join Brazilian star Cassio in the starting eleven.
Adelaide completed their final training session at Pohang Steelyard Stadium on Tuesday ahead of the match, which is expected to be played at close to zero-degree temperature. Following the game, Adelaide will play their first home game of the AFC Champions League on March 19 against Chinese champions Changchun Yatai at Hindmarsh Stadium. Adelaide United Starting XI:
