European Tour Event 2 Betting: Phil Taylor odds on to win tournament after a day of shocks in Berlin
The second European Tour event of the darts year continues on Saturday with the second round of the tournament being played out in full out in the Tempodrom in Berlin and after a day of high profile first round casualties on Friday, Phil Taylor is now the 9/10 favourite to win the title with Blue Square. There were losses on the opening day for the likes of Gary Anderson, James Wade and world champion Adrian Lewis as well as Premier League star Andy Hamilton.
Blue Square are the only firm offering odds on the tournament overnight but they go with Simon Whitlock as their 8/1 second favourite. Whitlock came past Daniel Starkey without dropping a leg on Friday while Taylor struggled past Jerry Hendricks 6-4. Whitlock’s part of the draw has really opened up with Lewis and Wade being knocked out so he will be confident of landing the title over the weekend.
Dave Chisnall has been in excellent form in recent weeks and he is into 11/1 to win the title from here. Chisnall came past Gaz Cousins in the opening round on Friday and looks forward to a match against Michael Rosenauer, who beat Andy Hamilton in the first round, on Friday. Chisnall is another one who benefitted from Lewis and Wade being knocked out and he’ll hope he can land the biggest title of his career so far this weekend.
Whenever a tournament is in Europe you can never write off Raymond Barneveld’s chances even though he has to come through Phil Taylor in all likelihood just to make the final. Barneveld cruised into the second round on Friday and he is now just 16/1 to win the season’s second European Tour event in Berlin. He is just ahead of 20/1 Justin Pipe who won the first European Tour event in Austria and who put out in form Michael van Gerwen on Friday.
