Dott vs Brecel Betting: Luca Brecel has the form to surprise Dott in the opening round of UKPTC1
Graeme Dott gets his UKPTC series underway on Saturday afternoon when he takes on the highly rated young Belgian Luca Brecel over the best of seven frames for a place in the last 64 of the tournament in Gloucester. The winner of this match will face either Ken Doherty or Joe Swail in the last 64 and it is the Scot who will go into the match as the 4/6 favourite with Bet365.
Graeme Dott’s season hasn’t begun particularly well for a player of his unquestionable talent and standing in the game. He struggled his way into the quarter finals of the Wuxi Classic without ever really playing well and then he made it into the knockout stages of the Six Red World Championship but again he struggled over the line in one match before being well beaten in the last 16 so Dott will be looking to find some form this weekend.
Luca Brecel is in form. In an invitational tournament in Austria last week he hit two 147’s in the competition, something which hasn’t been done before which shows he is playing well. Now he needs to take that good form and transfer it into some results. Brecel made it to the third qualifying round of the Wuxi Classic before he lost to Jamie Burnett but he has been winning matches and he is the type of player who will always score heavily.
This format could just suit Brecel and if he can get off to a fast start in this match then there’s no reason why he can’t win it at a fair price. Dott’s early season form hasn’t been the best, it rarely is, so he could be there for the taking if Brecel can bring his best game to the table with him. Brecel has the talent to win this match and with his scoring form he should have the confidence and scoring power to win it too.
