Dodig vs Berlocq Betting: Ivan Dodig can defeat the consistent Argentinian in Umag
These small tournaments can be quite tricky for many punters and I honestly believe that you should stay away from the favourites in the early rounds. And that is exactly what I am going to do today. In fact, I am going to go against some of them, as Pinnacle are offering some prices that I simply cannot ignore.
My first pick comes from the tournament in Umag. It seems that home players are often doing quite well in Croatia and Ivan Dodig certainly stands out in that regard. The world's number ninety-seven always plays his heart out in home conditions and I think that he might be able to defeat Carlos Berlocq today.
The Croat has a very specific playing style, but I think that he loves to play quite aggressively in home conditions. I have seen him in action a couple of times over in Zagreb and he can play outstanding tennis when on song. The aggressive style can work well against Berlocq, who can be a bit passive at times. The Argentinian loves to defend from the back of the court, but his passing shots lack consistency and he might be fairly uncomfortable with all those Croatian fans around.
Berlocq is naturally one of the most consistent players on the tour and he deserves to be the favourite in this match-up, but he is coming into this tournament on the back of a suspicious loss against Jan-Lennard Struff and I am not really sure about his current condition. He has what it takes to beat the Croat in two sets, but I just cannot see that happening at the moment. At this price, I am certainly willing to back Dodig with small stakes.
Back Ivan Dodig to beat Carlos Berlocq for a 1/10 stake at 3.36 with Pinnacle
