Davis vs Lisowski Betting: Mark Davis can use his early season form to overcome Lisowski in Australia

Mark Davis won the Six Red World Championship last week but that wasn’t a ranking tournament so he will be looking to go well in the Australian Goldfields Open this week starting in his first round match against Jack Lisowski. This match will be over the best of nine frames with Davis, who is knocking on the door for a place in the top 16, a 4/7 favourite for the match with Paddy Power.

Mark Davis hasn’t just gone well last week, because he won in Thailand last week it has almost been forgotten that he made the semi finals of the Wuxi Classic the week before. He only went out on a deciding frame defeat in that tournament so this is a man who is very much in good form. Davis’ win in Thailand last week included knockout wins over Shaun Murphy in the final and Stephen Lee so he’s in good nick.

Jack Lisowski has been a promising player for a couple of years now but the time to fulfil that potential has arrived beginning with this tournament. He has lived in the shadow of Judd Trump for a couple of years now and he will want to branch out and make his own name. Qualifying for this tournament was a good start but he needs to go deep in a ranking tournament sometime soon.

You would have to say Lisowski, as talented as he is, will have his work cut out here. Mark Davis is in good form and as long as tiredness doesn’t hit Davis before this match then you would expect him to have a bit too much for Lisowski. Davis is in the form of life, he’s scoring really well but he’s creating plenty of chances which all bodes well for him to win here.
