Chardy vs Roddick Betting: Jeremy Chardy might be able to defeat the powerful American in Eastbourne
Sorana Cirstea could not do anything against Marion Bartoli, but Christina McHale produced a determined performance and defeated Caroline Wozniacki, which means that Tuesday was a great day for us, especially since our pre-tournament outrights are still in play as well. And with so many big names out of the competition, they might be able to do some damage. Today, I am also going to back two underdogs, as that approach has been very successful so far.
Andy Roddick has managed to defeat Sam Querrey in the first round of the ATP event in Eastbourne, but it was not a clean victory and I am not really sure that he deserves to be ranked as a 1.36 favourite with Bet365. The thing is, he has not really won a match for quite some time now and his losses against the likes of Mahut or Roger-Vasselin suggest that he is far from his standard.
He will naturally want to get something from this event, but he is going to play against another big hitter today and I am not sure that he is going to get many chances on return. The Frenchman is in much better shape right now with wins over Lu and Mathieu, so he will be competitive here and I am more than happy to back him at this price. You obviously never know with the Frenchman, but his playing style, which is full of big serves and risky shots, can work on grass and he should have the advantage from the backhand wing as well. These days, Roddick is all about defense when it comes to backhands and Chardy has enough power to out-muscle him from that wing.
