Carter vs Yupeng Betting: Cao Yupeng can use the benefit of a game on the tables this week to stay close to Carter
The second round of matches on Tuesday at the Australian Goldfields Open begins with the match between Ali Carter and Cao Yupeng. These two both had excellent World Championships in different ways and will be looking to take their form from that tournament into the new season. These two will be meeting for the first time in this match, a match which Ali Carter is a 4/9 shot to win with BetVictor.
Ali Carter was the runner up in the World Championship which after the season he had last year was pretty amazing. Only Ronnie O’Sullivan was too good for him but that was no surprise or disgrace the way Ronnie played that week. The task for Carter is to build on that this season and regain his top 16 place before the next World Championship at the end of the season. His season didn’t start too well when he lost to Fergal O’Brien in the first round of the Wuxi Classic.
Cao Yupeng really came of age in the World Championship where he beat Mark Allen in the opening round and was then on the wrong end of some harsh comments from Allen. Since then he has qualified for this tournament and won a wildcard match on Monday to set up this clash with Carter. The Chinese youngster will be hoping that having a match on the tables will be beneficial for him.
Ali Carter is probably a rightful favourite for this match but he isn’t the best traveller with his Crohn’s Disease and that would give Cao something to think about in this one. We know the Chinese player has the quality to perform on the big stage and I think he’ll go well in this match with the heavier conditions better for him than Carter. I’m not sure if Cao will win but he can certainly keep it tight.
