BMW International Open Betting: Oscar Floren's excellence from tee to green can give him big chance in Saturday two ball
Unlike the first two rounds, the third round of the BMW International Open from Cologne will be played out in two balls. Having spent the first two days of the tournament playing in groups of three the tournament picks up pace now with two players in each group as the business end of the tournament arrives at great speed. The final group out on Saturday is Joel Sjoholm and Chris Wood where the Englishman is a 4/5 favourite with William Hill.
However the group which has caught my eye in the third round play a little bit ahead of the leaders. It is the group featuring Swedish player Oscar Floren and the South African golfer Dylan Frittelli. Floren has gone well this week and the way he has played from tee to green he can consider himself a little bit unlucky that he isn’t better off than his eight under par so far. He has led the field in distance off the tee and is in the top 15 in driving accuracy. As well as his driving being in top form his approach play isn’t bad either as he ranks 8th in greens in regulation this week too.
His opponent in this third round, Dylan Frittelli hasn’t been a professional for very long but he is already in contention in a tournament. You wonder if the tournament will come a little bit soon for the South African who can’t have experienced being in this position in any tournament too often let alone one of this calibre.
I think that will be the case and so I think Floren is a very acceptable bet in this two ball. The way he is hitting the ball from tee to green he is going to give himself a lot of birdie chances over the 18 holes and if Frittelli does feel the pinch at any point in the round then the Swede will be where he needs to be on the course to take advantage.
