BMW International Open Betting: Joel Sjoholm the 8/1 favourite as he establishes two shot lead to take into the weekend

At the halfway stage of the BMW International Open in Cologne, relatively unknown Swede Joel Sjoholm leads the way by two shots. He leads on eleven under par and leads by two from a group of four men including former Ryder Cup star Paul McGinley. The group on nine under par also include English duo Chris Wood and Danny Willett as well as the Paraguayan player Fabrizio Zanotti.

Sjoholm will go into the second half of the tournament as the 8/1 favourite with Coral to win his maiden European Tour title. The same firm offer the best price on Chris Wood winning from here. He is a 9/1 shot while Danny Willett is 11/1 with Boylesports. The other two men on nine under par, McGinley and Zanotti can be backed at best prices of 14/1 and 16/1 with Skybet respectively.

Despite currently sitting five shots off the lead on six under par after opening the tournament with a pair of 69’s, Sergio Garcia is actually the third favourite to win the tournament now. He is a 11/1 shot to come through and take the crown on Sunday with Stan James. The group on six under has some illustrious names in it including Henrik Stenson and Simon Dyson who are both prolific winners on the European Tour. They are 20/1 and 28/1 respectively.

There are a host of players on eight and seven under par with the highest of those in the betting now being the Dutch player Joost Luiten. Luiten is on seven under par but is only 14/1 to win the tournament from here with Boylesports as the bookmakers seem to be taking the view that the leader won’t get the job done. Shiv Kapur and Niclas Fasth are eight under and seven under and are 40/1 and 50/1 on the best prices to win over the weekend.
