Babos vs Petkovic Betting: Timea Babos to defeat Andrea Petkovic in New Haven
The WTA event in New Haven should be a fairly interesting tournament for fans of women's tennis, but it might prove to be a minefield for bettors, as there is probably going to be a plenty of upsets and surprising results. Nevertheless, there is one encounter that I am going to take a closer look at. Timea Babos is priced at 2.11 with Pinnacle to start her campaign with a win over Andrea Petkovic and that looks like a good offer to me.
The thing is, we all know what happened to Andrea Petkovic. Her nice start to the season was followed by a lengthy injury break. She then returned only to injure herself once again and now she is finally returning to action a week before the US Open and it is really hard to know what is going on. She is probably feeling well and she would certainly love to compete in the final Grand Slam of the season, but it is never easy to get back after a long break and I just cannot trust her in today's match.
Meanwhile, Timea Babos is having a bit of a breakthrough year right now, finally making it quite far in some tournaments, which is quite amazing if you consider that she is one of the youngest players on the tour. Last week, she managed to beat Lepchenko in straight sets before losing to Angelique Kerber in three sets, which is a fairly good results and I fancy her chances here in all honesty. She has what it takes to play against Petkovic on equal terms, so she should certainly have what it takes to play against her under these circumstances.
