ATP Atlanta Betting: Andy Roddick looks a bit overpriced in Atlanta

The American tennis tour is going to move over to Atlanta for this week and I am sure that we are in for some exciting matches. The classic feel of the tournament of Newport will be gone, but that might not be a bad thing in all honesty, as the video streams should be much better. A closer look at the outright markets reveals that John Isner comes into the event as a 3.25 favourite with Stan James, but I would never want to back the big American in such situations.

After all, we all know that John Isner will have to start preparing for the Olympics sooner or later and that the win in Newport must have been fairly tiring, so it would be a bit naive to think that he is going to be anywhere near his best this week. His draw is rather straightforward and he should be able to get past the likes of Rajeev Ram or Alex Bogomolov, but there is one man that should be able to stop him later on.

And that man is Andy Roddick. He has bounced back in a splendid fashion during the grass court swing and he will be looking to get something under his belt before the Olympics. He is going to be fresh for this tournament and a victory here would give him plenty of confidence before that event, so I fancy him to do well. Kevin Anderson is the only real threat in his quarter of the draw and I would have him as a solid favourite in that match-up. All in all, I am certainly willing to have a small punt on the experienced American at this price.
