Atletico Madrid vs Athletic Bilbao Betting: All Spanish final can contain plenty of goal action in Bucharest
The Europa League final in the National Arena in Bucharest on Wednesday night is an all Spanish final as Atletico Madrid take on Athletic Bilbao in what should be an open and very watchable showpiece occasion. Madrid won this competition two years ago beating Fulham in the final while Bilbao are looking for their first European title in their history. Atletico Madrid are a top price 5/6 to win the trophy with Bet365.
Diego Simeone is now in charge of Atletico Madrid and he has them playing some lovely football and a positive run in La Liga has seen them move to the fringes of a Champions League place despite losing arguably their best player in Sergio Aguero before the season began. Falcao was brought in from Porto and he has proved to be a fantastic signing and Simeone has the side set up to play to the Colombian’s strengths.
Athletic Bilbao have seen off some top sides in the competition this season. They have beaten Manchester United, Schalke and Sporting Lisbon over two legs in the tournament and will head to Bucharest knowing they don’t have a lot to lose. Like Atletico, Bilbao also have a focal point in their attack which their game is played around and theirs is Fernando Llorente, a Spanish striker who could well shine in the upcoming European Championships with David Villa sidelined.
I think this will be quite an open final. Both sides like to play good attacking football and both are pleasing on the eye. Sometimes these European finals can be cagey affairs but with these two sides knowing each other so well I think we’ll see a few goals and some excellent technical football. Both sides scored plenty of goals on their way to the final and I see no reason why that record needs to stop in the final.
