AT+T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Betting: Spencer Levin can put last week behind him and claim first Tour win

AT+T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Betting: Spencer Levin can put last week behind him and claim first Tour win

The PGA Tour opens its boundaries to the celebrity world this week when professionals and celebrity amateurs combine to compete in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. This is a unique tournament where each professional player will team up with a star of the celebrity world to compete in both a professional’s only tournament and a Pro-Am. With the relaxed nature of the week a top field is often assembled and with Tiger Wood playing this week that is very much the case here. D.A Points is the defending champion but it is Woods who is the 11/2 favourite with Skybet.

Three courses are in play in this tournament with each pairing playing one of their first three rounds on each course before those who make it to the final day competing solely on the Pebble Beach Links course. As well as Pebble Beach Links, the courses used this week are Spyglass Hill and Monterey Peninsular. Despite this being a professional and amateur event there is nothing easy about these golf courses.

Tiger Woods has been playing some really good golf in his last few events and there is the potential for him to really burn it up this week but I suspect he’ll be looking to peak either in two weeks at the Matchplay or in April at the Masters. With the likes of Rickie Fowler, Phil Mickelson, Hunter Mahan and Dustin Johnson all in the field this week is likely to be very competitive.

I was very close to taking Dustin Johnson this week because his record around here is exceptional with two wins and almost a third but for a final round collapse in the US Open two years ago. However his form so far this season isn’t as strong so I’m just going to pass him over and go with someone who had a tough ride last week.

Spencer Levin was excellent through three rounds of the Phoenix Open before blowing a five shot lead in the final round with his first PGA Tour title in sight. However he can take a lot from that experience and also from the man who pipped him to the title in Kyle Stanley. Stanley blew up the week before but recovered to win the following week, something Levin will be looking to do here. Levin was fourth here last year and in the top 15 in 2009 so he goes well around this set up and despite blowing up last week he is clearly playing good golf to have got into that position so I will take him to hold himself together and claim his first PGA Tour title this week.

Back S.Levin to win AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (e/w) for a 1/10 stake at 41.00 with Stan James (1/4 1-5)
