Asian Handicaps

Far too often the Asian Handicap Betting Guides that I have seen are either lacking information, or are just too difficult to understand. The Asian Handicap is basically designed to take the draw out of the equation, so instead of win draw or loss, apart from a few occasions, it's a straight win or lose situation.

My attempt here will be to make it very simple to understand for all you Asian Handicap Betting Punters.

I do have a golden rule that I'd like you all to use to make it easier to understand Asian Handicaps and that is below.
 

Golden Rule No.1 - Add the handicap to the scoreline

What do I mean by that?

Well if you have taken Arsenal -1 and Arsenal draw 0-0, by using the golden rule, the scoreline changes to Arsenal -1 v 0, hence they've lost.

I'll move on to every handicap there is with an easy example to help you.
 

Man Utd +0 (1.90) v Arsenal +0 (1.90)

This is what is known as "level ball" handicap. It means that both teams are rated level and if the game ends in a draw, you will get a 100% refund.

Man Utd 0 Arsenal 0

If you bet on Man Utd and they draw this match, you will get a 100% refund. If you bet on Arsenal and they draw this match, you will get a 100% refund.

Man Utd 1 Arsenal 0

If you bet on Man Utd and they win this match, you win the bet 100%. If you bet on Arsenal and they lose this match, you lose the bet 100%.

Man Utd 0 v Arsenal 1

If you bet on Arsenal and they win this match, you win the bet 100%. If you bet on Man Utd and they lose this match, you lose the bet 100%.

Man Utd -0.5 (1.90) v Arsenal +0.5 (1.90)

Man Utd 0 Arsenal 0

If you bet on Man Utd and they draw this match, you lose the bet 100%. If you bet on Arsenal and they draw this match, you win the bet 100%.

Man Utd 1 Arsenal 0

If you bet on Man Utd and they win this match, you win the bet 100%. If you bet on Arsenal and they lose this match, you lose the bet 100%.

Man Utd 0 v Arsenal 1

If you bet on Arsenal and they win this match, you win the bet 100%. If you bet on Man Utd and they lose this match, you lose the bet 100%.

Man Utd -1 (1.90) v Arsenal +1 (1.90)

If you bet on Man Utd and they draw this match, you lose the bet 100%. If you bet on Arsenal and they draw this match, you win the bet 100%.

If you bet on Man Utd and they win this match by 1 goal, you get a 100% refund of your bet. If you bet on Arsenal and they lose this match by 1 goal, you get a 100% refund of your bet.

If you bet on Man Utd and they draw this match, you lose the bet 100%. If you bet on Arsenal and they draw this match, you win the bet 100%.

Man Utd 1 Arsenal 0

If you bet on Man Utd and they win this match by 1 goal, you lose the bet 100%. If you bet on Arsenal and they lose this match by 1 goal, you win the bet 100%.

Man Utd 0 v Arsenal 1

If you bet on Arsenal and they win this match by 1 goal, you win the bet 100%. If you bet on Man Utd and they lose this match by 1 goal, you lose the bet 100%.

Man Utd 2 Arsenal 0

If you bet on Man Utd and they win this match by 2 goals, you get a 100% refund on your bet. If you bet on Arsenal and they lose this match by 2 goals, you get a 100% refund on your bet.

Man Utd 3 Arsenal 0

If you bet on Man Utd and they win this match by 3 goals, you win the bet 100%. If you bet on Arsenal and they lose this match by 3 goals, you lose the bet 100%.

So, by now you should have a good grasp on the easier type of Asian Handicaps. Now sit down and get ready for the slightly more complicated Asian Handicaps.

The Dreaded Quarter Asian Handicaps!

These are not that difficult either, just remember the golden rule and remember that when an Asian Handicap ends in a draw after the golden rule is added, you get your money back.

Golden Rule No.2 

If your bet wins by a quarter you win half your stake and half is refunded, if your bet loses by a quarter, then you lose half your stake and half is refunded.

Man Utd -0.25 (1.90) v Arsenal +0.25 (1.90)

Man Utd 0 Arsenal 0

If you bet on Man Utd and they draw this match, you lose half your bet and half is refunded to you. If you bet on Arsenal and they draw this match, you win half your bet and half is refunded to you.

Man Utd 1 Arsenal 0

If you bet on Man Utd and they win this match by 1 goal, you win the bet 100%. If you bet on Arsenal and they lose this match by 1 goal, you lose the bet 100%.

Man Utd 0 v Arsenal 1

If you bet on Arsenal and they win this match by 1 goal, you win the bet 100%. If you bet on Man Utd and they lose this match, you lose the bet 100%.

Man Utd -0.75 (1.90) v Arsenal +0.75 (1.90)

Man Utd 0 Arsenal 0

If you bet on Man Utd and they draw this match, you lose your bet 100%. If you bet on Arsenal and they draw this match, you win your bet 100%.

Man Utd 1 Arsenal 0

In Summary

After adding the handicap to the scoreline, you will have the actual result on the Asian Handicap.

Once this is done, it's as simple as this. If your bet has won by 0.5 or more, then your bet is a winner. If your bet has lost by 0.5 or more, then your bet is a loser.

If you win your bet by 0.25 or more, then you win half and half is refunded.

If you lose your bet by 0.25 or more, then you lose half and half is refunded.

I've seen many Asian Handicap Betting Guides and I can honestly say they are all badly written or confusing. I hope you find this one much easier to understand.
