Anderson vs Barneveld Betting: Raymond Barneveld is a lot more at ease around the 60 than his opponent
Raymond Barneveld has put himself in with an excellent chance of making it into the Premier League darts semi finals but he probably needs at least one more win and maybe two to make sure of his spot in the postseason. His best chance of that win comes on Thursday night when he takes on Gary Anderson in Birmingham in the second match of the night. Anderson needs to win his last two and hope results go his way in order to qualify.
That isn’t going to happen which is probably why he is 6/4 to win this match with Bet365 although logically he could play more like the Gary Anderson we know once the pressure of pushing for a qualifying spot has been lifted. Anderson has drawn two of his last three matches but hasn’t actually won in the tournament since he thrashed Adrian Lewis way back in week four of the tournament.
Raymond Barneveld has been in good form for the most part of this tournament but his game has stopped in this event in recent weeks and he hasn’t quite managed to seal the deal on his semi final spot. If he can get back to the level which saw him average 112 against Kevin Painter a few weeks ago then he will be a very dangerous player in this match. He comes into this match off the back of a semi final run in Austria over the weekend.
I’d like to think Barneveld would win this but with his form just tailing off in recent weeks I’m going to play it safe and take the 180’s in this match. Gary Anderson has barely hit a 180 all tournament whereas Barneveld is hitting plenty of them at the minute and I find the 6/4 on Barneveld to hit the most 180’s in this match a very big price. Barneveld has 16 more 180’s than Anderson in the tournament so far and that 6/4 looks too good to miss.
