Almagro vs Monaco Betting: Nicolas Almagro to defeat Juan Monaco in Germany
The tournament in Hamburg has not brought me any luck so far, but I am going to back one selection from that event today nonetheless. Nicolas Almagro, who can now be backed at 2.70 with Pinnacle for the overall victory, is going to play against Juan Monaco and I simply cannot see past the Spaniard.
I have seen both guys in action yesterday and that alone leads me to this pick. Juan Monaco did beat Jeremy Chardy in a seemingly straightforward manner, but I wonder what the deciding set would look like, as the Frenchman was starting to get the momentum. The Argentinian is tired now, he really is. He has been playing long matches lately and it is catching up with him.
Almagro has also played a lot of tennis in recent days, but it seems that his arm is absolutely fine and I can see him going all the way in Hamburg now. Philipp Kohlschreiber was a tough test, but Almagro was just too good and he will like his chances in this match-up. He leads the H2H record 5-2 and it is not hard to see the reasons for that. Most importantly, he can really put some pace on the ball and that usually forces his opponent on the back foot. Monaco can defend from the baseline, but it is almost impossible to win against top 10 guys by defending all the time these days.
This should be a lot like the Monaco-Tipsarevic final from last week and we all know who won that one. The conditions in Hamburg are right up Almagro's alley, as the surface is not completely dead and players that are not afraid of taking risks do get rewarded.
Back Nicolas Almagro (-3) to beat Juan Monaco for a 3/10 stake at 1.92 with Pinnacle
