1000 Guineas Betting Guide
1000 Guineas – Newmarket – 1m
This event takes place on the Sunday, the day after the 2000 Guineas event and is open to 3 year old fillies. It is also run on the Rowley Mile course at Newmarket and has provided some excellent horses over the years, including Russian Rhythm, Finsceal Beo and Natagora. It is also named after the original prize money that was on offer to the winner of the race.
This race is the 2nd classic of the season and forms part of the Fillies Triple Crown, the other 2 races being the Oaks and the St Leger. The last horse to win the Fillies Triple Crown was Oh So Sharp in 1985. There are also trials races for this event in the shape of the Nell Gwyn Stakes and the Fred Darling Stakes, the first of these also taking place on the Rowley Mile at Newmarket.
